Okay, cool. Was thinking about getting one0

Yes.0

Not that much.0

Oh bull crap! Tattoos hurt. The question is, how much? That all depends on the individual. Just don't let that stop you from getting one.0
-
They do hurt, but not too bad. I compare the feeling to a scraped knee, how it burns. It depends on the person, and also different areas of the body are more sensitive. Don't let the fear of the pain stop you from getting one if it's what you really want to do.0
-
In general, yes. However, the amount of pain depends where you get it. If you get tattooed over a bony area, it will hurt far worse than getting tattooed over an area with more fat on it.
I got a tattoo in between my shoulderblades and it hurt a lot because it was a more bony area.0 -
The pain is part of the adventure.0
-
completely depends on the spot! some hurt A LOT others don't hurt bad at all. foot was no fun but ankle and shoulder didn't hurt much to me!0
-
Depends entirely on where you have it. I have one on my shoulderblade, it didn't hurt...just felt like a cat gently scratching. However, more boney areas will hurt more, as there is no fat to cushion the nerves. For instances, wrists, ankles, feet, hands and necks will hurt more than a back!0
-
it depends a lot on where you get the tattoo and your own pain threshold.0
-
Depends on placement and your pain threshold. The two on my hips didn't hurt, because they were done right over the bone. The two on my shoulder blades were the worst because it went right into the muscle, but they still didn't feel so bad. I had a friend do my side piece and everyone warned me that it would hurt the most. I took 3 motrin, drank 2 beers and fell asleep while he was working on it.0

I've always wanted one but I have no idea what to get.0
-
Depends.......0

depending on where you get them the pain can go from a slight tickle to something more extreme. but man the F up and get one if you want one0

yup. I have two. I am not a dramatic whiner but they stung.0 -
I have two. Do they hurt.. well it really depends on your personal pain tolerance and where you get it. My arm one didn't it all, but my ankle one was a bit painful but when he got to the back of the ankle I was shaking with pain. Luckily it didn't last long.
I am in the process of figuring out what the next one is going to be. each of my tattoos have deep personal meaning. They are an expression of art that I display proudly, the ink is to show off, but the meanings are for me. Good luck,0 -
seriously I have 3 the one on my shoulder blade did not hurt that much, the one on the back of my neck was uncomfortable at times but the one on my ankle was the worst! It really does depend on where you are putting it. since it's your first I would avoid less fatty areas.0
-
I really appreciate everyone's answers!! I'm seriously considering getting one when I reach my weight goal. And was curious.0
-
Depends on your personal pain tolerance and the skill of the tattooist. A Scratcher will cause you extreme pain no matter your pain threshold where as a skilled artist might give you less a sting then a shot at the doctors office0
-
Word of warning, once you get one...you WILL want more.
12 and counting.0 -
depends on where you get one. I have an armband, the outside of arm just stings but once he got on the inside of the arm it really hurt (didn't hurt enough for me to not go through with it but it hurt none-the-less). Got anothe on the outside of the bootom of my leg the only part that was uncomfortable ways the closer he got to the ankle.find someonewho others have considered "light handed" the pain isn't as bad. but even whan it hurts it is so worth it. be warn once you get one your gonna want another0
-
I have one on the left side of my lower back, and it didn't hurt (just uncomfortable) when it was near the outer side but dang did it hurt when it was near my spine. Good thing pain doesn't bother me all too much.
I guess I'm in the camp that it depends where it's located0 -
Depends on a few things really.
The persons pain threshold.
The area you get the tattoo
And how long it may take0 -
Depends on what part of your body you're getting one. Neither of mine hurt. Uncomfortable, yes, but not painful. I have a big one on my arm and a small one on my leg.0
-
Location and duration definitely a factor. Although, the 5 hr tattoo on my lower back hurt less that the 45 min one on the top of my foot. Sensitivity was a factor in that case. I am going to get a large one on my abdomen this Winter, and I'm a bit worried about that one!0
-
pain depends on the person.
First, can you tolerate needles? cause it's a lot of it..... and it's like a burning sensation.
I don't think it hurts....and after a couple minutes you go numb anyway lol...
I have one and my wife has 13 so....I know the drill.
If you put it one zone special zone it will hurt more...like where there's bones. Chest is pretty painful too cause it's a sensitive skin area but some tolerated more than others...My friend's a tattoo artist and he tells me that some big huge bikes cries sometimes when they get their chest done so lol.....like I said, all depends
Still, enjoy it... it's not that bad. Just make sure it's what you want cause it's there for a looooooooooooooooooooong time0 -
Some hurt worse than others. Depends on the location and detail it has. My tiny ankle tat and the one over stretch marks on my stomach were the worst. Lower back, second worst. Upper arm and upper back didn't really hurt at all, just uncomfortable.0
-
As everyone says it all depends on where, how big and how much pain you tolerate. I am a wuss when it comes to pain but I have 3 tattoos and planning a huge back piece for next year.
My first was in the tramp stamp area and didn't hurt at all. The second was my wrist and stung but was over in 15 min, the third takes up all of my upper arm, the linework didn't hurt but was really sore for days after. When I got the colour added it hurt like a mofo at times, you just sorta breathe through it and the noise of the gun becomes kinda soothing in the end. I am nervous every time I get inked about the pain but if they were that bad I wouldn't go back.0 -
It depends on where you get them and how good you are with pain. I've had two, one on my ankle and one on the top of my foot and they didn't hurt terribly bad, more like being stabbed with a pin repeatedly, but very tolerable.0
