I am not a morning person, at east thats what i thought. I am always late for work, i comb my hair and put my shoes on on the way. So how can i even think of squeezing a workout in? thats impossible. My morning has been like this for a while, my daughter waking me 30 minutes before the alarm went off. id switch the tv on and catch a nap until the alarm goes off, then snooze it for another 30 minutes then id only have 30 minutes to prepare me and her. and it just didnt work. In the past few days as i walked like a zombie towards the tv remote i zombied on to put my gym clothes on, switched on the laptop and did 30DS. By the time the alarm went off i was done with my daily work out.
I have been struggling with the afternoon workouts because my daughter wants my attention i have to prepare dinner and im also tired from work. So these morning workouts are turning me into a morning person and i like it. no more snoozing. I dont even have to think about it, well i try. before my body negotiates with my mind whether its the right thing to do, i go on and do my workout. Im sure i can keep this up for a while

Am works best for me, it helps me to stay focused and on track for the day, knowing that ive worked hard at the gym in the morning,.
When i go gym in the morning, i drnk about 2 bottles of water, which is 4 glasses, soo ive nearly got my daily intake of water and its only AM, whereas if i went to the gym in the evening, and drank 2 bottles of water - id be sleeping on the toilet all night! :laugh:0 -
I've always preferred evening exercise. I have to switch to morning sometimes, but I'm never 'quite right' during them.0

Both. I work nights 11pm-7am including weekends. It's pretty slow on the weekends at my work so I'll sometimes go outside @ 1-2am to walk/jog 2-3 miles. I also hit the gym after work usually around 8am 3-4x a week.0

Both here as well - cardio and strength split between AM and PM0

i'm out the door to the gym as soon as i feed my dog in the morning.0

I work out at night (btwn 6-8) simply because that's the only time I have, except Saturdays. Mornings are spent trying to get 3 kids fed and out the door plus I have to get ready for work. I hit the gym on my way home from work, then head to pick up kids from their activities. DH is nice enough to help me by getting them where they need to be so I can have that time.0

Mornings. I work a lot of late hours, plus I have to study for my licensing exam after work. The only way that I can be absolutely sure of free time is at 6am!0

I was working out after work, then they changed my hours, so I work 9:30-6pm now. I still have to get up at 5:30 to get the kids ready for school, so I do my workout once the kids have left, then shower and dress for work. I am still trying to get my old hours back though.
Bottom line: workout when it's convenient for you. There is no "magic" time of day that is best for everyone.0 -
I prefer to workout in the AM (i exercise at home), because it gives me energy to get through the day. Plus, i get up at 4am during the week, and 5 am on the weekends, so i have peace and quiet and with no interruptions since my wife and kids are still asleep.0

If I could do whatever I wanted, around 10 or 11 is an ideal time for me. I'm strong, I push hard, I'm fed, and ready to go. Obviously, that isn't practical since I'm a 9 to 5'r. But, if I could work at home, thats what I would do. However, mostly, I work out at night because I have more energy. When I workout early, like at 5 am, I don't really give it my all. But, there are times where that is the only time I can squeeze it in. So, I guess what I saying is I do what I have to do.0

I work a split shift so I go in the morning after my first shift... I hit the gym for weights then go home and Zumba.. If I waited for later in the day, I would be too lazy..0

I find that mornings are best for me. My husband says that I'd probably do better later in the day, better calorie burn since I am not trying to go 0 to 100% within an hour. But I find that life creeps in and other things (work and family) crowd out other things and it just doesn't get done later in the day.
I have also found that my motivation is severely lacking when I try to exercise on my own time, hit the snooze button just one more time b/c I can still get in a decent workout 5 min. later...then it gets so late that I don't get up to exercise at all b/c I haven't left myself time to get in a good one. I defeat myself. BUT when I go to a class that is scheduled to start at a given time, I have to get my rear out of bed and get dressed and to the gym right away. No excuses, if I hit snooze, I won't get there in time or will get there so close to class starting I am left with the older more worn out equipment. So, while I wouldn't have believed it a year ago, I can regularly wake up at 4:15 AM and work out (have been out for 3 weeks due to an injury, a true test coming at the end of the month when I will be able to get back at it!).0 -
Whenever I can squeeze it in. Usually when I need a break from my studies I get on my stationary bike or take the dog for a nice long walk. It helps me to organize my thoughts and get out some stress. Some days I don't do anything except run around on campus and do my shopping then pick up the kids etc. But thinking of all that I've done those days its considered exercise too. I park in the last parking spot so I get more walking in and take the stairs instead of the elevator.0

Me, too. My hubby gets up at 4 AM for work. For years, I never got up, but my sleep was not great after he got up because he is busy bustling around the house. So I decided just to get up with him. Now I am at the gym by 4:30-4:45, home by 6 and done for the day.
Took some adjusting, but I love it now.

I prefer am, most days I'm up @ 6am to hit my gym (circuits) for 6:30am. Then I'm done by 7:30am!
On a Wednesday I'm up @ 5am to meet my wrestling coach to train from 6am to 7am!
I also do running every lunch time (Mon-Fri - 20mins to 60mins, either sprints, hills, vo2 max test or LSD (Long/Slow/Distance))...
I train on evenings twice a week, kickboxing + circuits!
It's about making things fit, or expanding your time to fit! I don't watch much television, but I'd rather train!0
