i am training for my first 1/2 marathon, the date is March 14th 2010....7 days from now....two days ago i woke up to go and do my ten mile run....as i walked out of my bedroom, the most horrible thing happend! I stepped on an electrical plug and it went through my skin.....i am so depressed. I just dont know how i am going to do this. People keep saying its a sign, you dont have to do it, there will be other marathons. but they just dont get it...i worked really hard to get where i am and i dont want to give up because of this....SOME BODY PLEASE tell me there is hope that i will be healed by next sunday and i will run! i can hardly walk right now, today is day three.....

Why can't you walk? If it is still too painful to walk two days later, I hope you went to the doctor. You could get an infection, or there could be some other injury other than soft tissue.

Have you had a recent tetanus shot? The standard is tetanus shot every five years......

    and thank you!!!!
  • You will know when it is healed. Skin is a miracle gift from God, it keeps our muscles in tone and covers up our blood vessels so everyone doesn't have to see. So, since it is a miracle, you just have to have faith. Love you. Mom

They make these awesome bandages for blisters that are a little puffy... that might help to cushion it a little. I'm so sorry that things are happening to make it hard to complete what you started to do... I hate when that happens! I'm hoping that you'll be better in time for the marathon - but if not, let me just give you something to think about... did you ever think you'd be training for a 1/2 marathon in the first place? Haven't you already WON your race, simply by training? If you get to run in this one... BONUS! If not, look at it as extra training for the next one. You've already done a great job!
