Is it bad that I eat too much sugar when 90% of the sugar is from fruits?

In general, no, but how much is too much? Are you just going by MFP's numbers? If so, quit counting sugar and count fiber instead.0

Some say yes, some say no as long as it's natural, some say just fit it in your carb macro and don't worry about the specifics. Me, I'm part of that last group, because that's what's worked for me personally.0

Okay thanks for the answers
@katevarner Yes I'm going by MFP's numbers. Today I ate twice as much sugar as my goal was, but it still fits with the fiber so I guess it's okay.0 -
Sugar is just a carb, albeit a low-glycemic index carb. Like others said, if it fits into your macros, you are good. I personally don't worry about sugars. I focus on getting the macros I need and staying within my calorie goals. It's working for me. I am SO NOT on the "sugar is of the devil" band wagon.0

And don't bother tracking sugar if 90% is fruit, it is included in the carbs calculation.0

I don't eat much fruit myself and if I do I try to stick to berries, grapes and melon. I feel too much fruit did have a negative impact on my losses. I max out on veggies and salad though. All depends on what works for you. If it is working for you just keep going. If it stops working look at it again x0

If its fruit juice then count it. If you're eating whole fruit then not a problem. Just make sure you're eating vegetables too and not just relying on fruit.0

I've never heard "I gained my weight because I ate to many apples blueberries grapes etc"0

Fruit is lots of energy packed in a small package. its contains the sugar called fructose which comes from fruit. If not eating in moderation it will cause your blood glucose to rise which causes the release of insulin and uptake by your cells. I would recommend cutting back on fruit if you're getting that much sugar. Keep it to post workout food or carb refeed days.
If you want something sweet try eating an entire cucumber sliced with lemon and salt. The volume of food will fill you up feeling satisfied and the lemon and salt combining together really makes your sweet tooth go away. Plus its super low calories and has plenty of water to hydrate your body. also try a tomatoes sliced with lemon salt and pepper. It's delicious!!.. in my opinion of course.0 -
I've eaten 5 or 6 pieces of fruit, or a portion of berries in place of a piece of fruit, each and every day since I started this in March, so I guess I would have been way over on sugar each day but I don't know because I don't monitor it. Hasn't had any adverse effect on my weight loss.0

What about the sugar in milk??? I use skim milk only yet it has sugar in it also, my sugar is over everyday from fruit & the milk I use ?? :-/0

Have sugar in conjunction with fibre. Fibre negates the affects sugar has on your 'bottom line'. Although the body isn't designed to count calories on fructose, you'll find that fibre is your friend. That's why mother nature made fruit with fibre in it, and also made sugar naturally inaccessible most of the time.0

Many different types of sugar, glucose is often the reference food for the GI index0 -
I used to freak out about sugar but I can't eat a decent amount of fruit without going over on my sugar so I don't even worry about it anymore. As long as you aren't eating cookies and twinkies all day and your sugar comes from fruit and whatnot then I wouldn't worry.0

Agree -- if you ate fruits as your only daily food intake, I'm pretty sure you'd end up with a calorie deficit -- at least I would.
An orange is about 60 calories. A cup of berries is the same or less. You need to eat a lot for the calories to pile up.
Fruit Juice on the other hand -- I've cut out. I used to drink orange juice almost daily -- and if you're not trying to lose weight juices are great cause there's tons of nutrition. But if you are trying to lose weight, they're horrible cause a 12 oz cup of OJ is like eating 5 oranges -- You're basically getting the calories/nutrition of 5 oranges without the fiber (the part that fills you up and would've prevented you from eating 5).0 -
