Thinking about joining in as a beachbody coach.

A good friend of mine is a beachbody coach, and from talking to friends whos joined and my friend/coach herself it seems very tempting. My fiancee thinks I shouldn't do it because he compares it to Avon, other beauty products where its all sales and u get ripped off. (I guess that was his experience in something) As my weight loss journey has been a diffacult one, I have been helping my friends on facebook. I have had people personally thank me.."because of your motivational speeches and posts, i got up and did something for me and lost a x amount of pounds" so when i feel like i inspired people..My heart seems to be in this. What do you think? My fiancee also thinks i dont fully commit to things to well..like if i buy something i really want i dont use it..and i admit hes right on that. What has been anyone experience..did u feel the same way before joining and in the thinking process?

Suzanne,
Coming from someone who has been Pals with you on here for a long time....and has also had experience with direct sales...and also has an eating disorder....
I wouldn't encourage you to do this.
My reasoning is that (from what I see you post).....you would get too upset with yourself for having "rough days"....and then be even harder on yourself because you are now a "coach" to others who are looking to you for advice.
I am only saying this out of deepest sincerity and do not want it to make you feel bad.....
Hugs,
Tausha0 -
If i did join in, it would be a while anyway. Hopefully by then, I overcome my eating disorder.0

I think that you would be a brilliant motivator and empathetic coach. However, many years ago I used to run a slimming club; ironically I was pregnant when I got the job but after giving birth I found it hard to lose the weight and I found the pressure of having to weigh inweekly and send my weight to Head Office intolerable and a huge pressure....0

I've been buying Beach Body workouts...from Amazon.com (easier for me to buy gift cards at grocery store) anyways, I think I would LOVE to be a beach body coach too!! However, I worry that I don't know enough to do it. I could/would be super motivational because I have lost weight. I love to work with people, and help them out. In addition it would even motivate me I think.
But I live in a small town...so I am thinking I wouldn't find enough people to buy from me. I don't know..
And I have thought of being a personal trainer someday, but I feel that even if I knew everything they knew, I am still not..."small" or look the part of what some would expect a personal trainer to look like.
but I think it would be super fun!!0 -
Personally I wouldn't do it.
But you are mentioning your fiance way too much. This is a choice for you alone.0 -
I think you could motivate and inspire people without the need to sell them products.0

My mom used to do Avon, and all she had to do was pass out catalogs and then figure out what she can get for free based on what other people ordered. She just did it to get free Avon, which is fine. I'm not sure if Beachbody stuff sells as easily as Avon. From what I have seen of their products, it's really pricey stuff. For some products, you can purchase something similar at the Vitamin Shoppe for less than half the cost.
If it's free to start, then try it. If they want to pay money to start then don't. That's my rule with sales. Don't get started if you have to put out money up front.0 -

This. How about working toward being a personal trainer or dietician rather than selling overpriced shakes?0 -

Yep. How about starting a blog or facebook group if you want to motivate people?0 -

Yeah, definitely...and YouTube is a great tool for that. Best wishes=)0 -

I admire your desire to be a motivator but have to agree BBCoach is not a good avenue. You have to sell overpriced products to make money....it's a pyramid scheme.0

The Coaches are funny , I ignore all there friends request as it only seem like one thing that they are interested in ..... Making a Buck !0
