overcoming a plateau?

Hi all,
I joined MFP at the beginning of September and have lost sixteen pounds. While I am very happy with my progress so far, I seem to have leveled off and have been stuck at the same weight for about three weeks now. At the very least, I'd like to lose about fifteen more pounds, but my ultimate goal is twenty-five more.
Any suggestions? Tips? Motivational stories? With the holidays coming up, I definitely don't want to get off track and stay stuck where I am.
I stick to my 1340 net calorie limit, really making an effort to stay away from foods high in carbs, fat, cholesterol. I exercise consistently five to six days a week; four to five of those days I do 30 - 45 minutes of cardio, and a full hour of cardio once a week.
Thanks so much! And congratulations to all of you successes and works in progress; you're all so motivating and inspiring!

I'm in the exact same boat but my plateau has been a lot longer, I'd be interested in what other people have done to overcome theirs also0

Figure out your TDEE and take a 15% cut - 10% if you have less than 20 to lose. If you've plateaued 99% of the time it's due to diet, either you are not eating enough to fuel your workouts or you are eating too much. Calculate your TDEE and use that instead of MFP's numbers.

I just had 3 weekly weigh-ins with zero lbs lost.. the next week was 4 lbs. If you're sticking to your numbers give it another week before shaking it up.0 -
You may try to confuse your metabolism and give it a jumpstart. I eat a few extra calories (300-400) for 2 days and then return back to my goals (food and excercise) for 4 or 5 days. This may need to be repeated for a couple of weeks. This works for me, I've lost 72 pounds over the past year and have plateaued a few times.
Keep up the good work!0 -
too much cardio- your body is getting too efficient at the exercises you are doing all the time. Youre gonna have to do some completely opposite stuff for awhile. Like all Weights and Protein instead of Cardio and Low Carbs!

I always change something. exercise, foods, amount of exercise, calorie in take for a few days.
I have also went in and updated my weight and the amount of exercise I am doing.
Not that this will help but I've been told to keep working at it that sometimes your body needs to get used to the new you and it will start dropping again. I just went for 4 weeks so I changed some things and it seems to be helping some.0
