saddle bag motivation group :)

Anyone out there who also has the dreaded saddle bags? Did some research online, and there isn't even a muscle in that area to work on...and it's the last place us ladies will lose weight..it really can be do demotivating! BUT... I know I can do it...I've noticed a difference in the way my clothes fit...I'd love to find some friends that have this same problem...I know we can do it, one kilo at a time! How many kilos do you think need to be lost to get rid of them?

I feel for you....even though I've been BMI 22 before as an adult, I've never lost them...(becasuse I didn't train at all)

I've always had them, even when I was thin (about 10 years ago). I never used to exercise though, so I'm hoping that helps to get rid of them. There is no muscle per se in that area, but I'm sure working all the gluteal and thigh and pelvic muscles will help. At worst, it couldn't hurt.

I have arthritis in my knee, and my doctor, who used to be an NHL hockey player, says the best thing to do is build up my thigh muscles. I never would have thought it.

I do know that in working the thighs and butt areas, my knee feels a lot better and I've lost 2 inches in my hip area in the last 2 weeks.

All things in perspective though....they won't be as prominent when you've lost the weight you need to lose.

From a physio point of view - the best things you can do are loads of squats, lunges and clams!

    I HAVE THESE. A LOT.

I've always had saddlebags since putting on weight. I've lost 19lb so far, and another 12 - 19lb to lose depending on my shape. I run like crazy and use the cross trainer 6 days a week and aso work abs and have started adding strength/weights.

I have lost 3 inches over the biggest part of my hips/bum/saddlebags, so although it's still the biggest bit, it's slowly but surely going.
Keep trying, we will get there!!!!

I have double-saddle bags - on the outside AND inside of my thighs. :( Squats and lunges seem to help, and as for the inner-saddlebag... I'll keep on going to ballet and develop that turnout.

    Sigh.

Yep. I have lost my outer saddle bag (yay), but the inner remains a stubborn little pad of fat. :grumble:

Inner thighs are jerks. Mine just sit there and jiggle mockingly.

Strength training, like squats, wall sits, leg extensions, hip abduction, hip adduction... if you go to a gym, do circuits of all of the leg machines with the heaviest weight you can do for 5-10 reps. Climbing stairs, walking uphill, or running on a slight incline (at least 2%) should help as well.

I've also found pilates to help.

    Good luck!

Here is a tip, though. I have seriously weight trained for about 8 years and NOTHING helped my thighs all around as much as these: http://myosource.com/kineticbands/.

I got these about 8 months ago and I have been using them to do clams, leg lifts, and even wear them doing weighted hip thrusts. The results have been amazing and this is how i lost my outer saddle bags (along with fat loss, of course).

Also, this book is helpful: http://www.amazon.com/The-Booty-Bible-Commandments-Tush-Tightening/dp/0578101335/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1353361815&sr=8-2&keywords=booty+bible. They have a kindle edition too.
