I have around 50-60 grams, I find if I have less than that I don't have as much energy.0

It is critical you get some carbs. Especially from low carb, typically high fiber veggies like spinach, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, etc.
Your results may stall without.
I just try to keep it below 50g (or 30 within induction). Some people have to go higher based on activity or have symptoms like dry eyes which was relieved by increasing their carbs.0 -
I have no symptoms of anything, I feel fine :S I just cant find a right balance for dieting, its one extreme to another!0
-
After fiber I average 50 to 60g of veg and fruit carbs0

So if i eat something relatively high in carbs such as cereal, but make sure its fibre, then thats better than having lower carbs daily? So include some muesli and fruit maybe???0

Not if you're trying to do keto.
There's a learning curve you're on when you start. Some days you can't get it below 50g, some days you are under 10g. You'll be fine if one or two days are under. You're eating fiber and you're fine! Just take it one day at a time!
Edit for clarification: As long as you're getting enough fiber, it's okay to be under 20g net carbs. If you constantly avoided veggies, then I'd be concerned.0 -
No I eat a lot of veggies just on days when I finish a 12 hour shift i cant be bothered to cook so I just do omelette or something quick, I eat alot of salad and nuts too... Im concerned about my carbs being so low, Its not intentional even thou I am doing low carb, they just happen to be lower than I expect lol0

Trust me, you're fine! Just keep an eye on your fiber, and you're good0 -
You are going to be looking at Net Carb intake ~50g.
Net Carbs = Total Carbs - Fiber (within the item you are eating)
You can not just eat a spoon of jam and follow it up with a glass of fiber.
But a regular addition of a fiber supplemental (especially psyllium husk) keeps a high protein system moving smoothly.
I enjoy leaner cuts of meat for my protein but I get my fat from Coconut and Hemp Oil mostly. I often just take by the tbsp full or put into a protein shake.0 -
How about adding some berries or another relatively low sugar fruit? Some fruit and cooking with onions, garlic and tomatoes keeps my carbs from dropping that low -- still usually well under 50g a day but not in the 10g-20g range.0

GOSH!! You guys are brill! I don't know how you manage to keep your carbs so low!
I am just at a loss to know how to keep it at that amount.0 -
I stick to 20 or less a day, but I am keto. It's up to you what you are trying to aim for.0

Short answer. No, it is not possible to have to little carbs.
Long answer. Going cold turkey can cause withdraw like symptoms in some people and is not pleasant. I suggest slowly ramping down to avoid this. Give your body time to develop the enzymes that aid in the transition.
What are you goals? Often people, depending on size, Like to keep them below 100g and for smaller people below 50g. Some of the more hardcore people like to keep in ketosis, but that's not an end all indicator of being a fat burner.
Low carb has it's benefits and is usually used on a cut for because it does have some detractors.
Generally speaking, you go low carb to cut, and increase carbs to bulk. Moderate to low carb to maintain.
Getting enough protein and fat in the diet to maintain lean mass and good hormonal balance/sanity is far more important than getting carbs.0 -
I do low carb and I try to stay around 20-50 a day..i prefer 20 but I try to give myself a cheat meal once a week..although my cheat day consists of more carbs, i try to stay away from pasta and potatoes..i try to get most of my carbs from vegi's..i use atkin bars in place of meals or when i feel like a candy bar..it's hard to watch your carbs and everyone tells me that i have to be careful because you can lose alot of weight but once you start eating carbs again, you gain that weight back and more..that's why i let myself have a cheat meal once a week so i am not completely depriving myself of things i can't have..0

How do you know if you're in keto without using the strips?0
