wii fit- worth it?

Considering buying a wii fit board, as I've seen them being sold for £10 with the game. Obviously this would not be the only exercise I'd be getting! :P
Does anybody still use theirs, or is everybody's wii console just sat in the corner by their TV like mine is?
Okay I'm blabbering... Basically, has anybody lost weight using one? :)

Didn't really lose any weight using it but the balancing games and yoga program are decent. For that little money, I'd say yes, go for it!

A friend and I still use ours. I use wii fit for yoga and balance activities. I know next to nothing about Yoga.

I mainly use my fit board to weigh. But I still play the fit games, I really like the yoga they have. Its a good way to keep moving when you really don't want to "exercise".

You're moving more than you would otherwise be.

I used it very early on, when I was just getting back into exercising. But I outgrew it rather quickly. The scale is nice though.

For fun yes, but not really a lot of exercise unless you have a lot of time to put in!! It's cheap so try it out!~

I use mine to weigh myself once a week and i used it a lot for yoga and gentle exercise to get myself used to doing exercise again after an long bout of illness. For £10 i'd say go for it tbh can't hurt really

I enjoyed using mine when I first started exercising every day. It got me off the couch and the island cycling (on the wii fit disc) toned up my rear and legs a lot. It also has improved my balance a lot (I don't trip over my own feet anymore) But now that I've lost about 30 pounds and got into more vigorous exercising, I use it mostly to weigh myself.

I like ours. The games are fun and you may not get your heart rate up to Zone 3 or 4, but a low zone 2 will burn fat and boots metabilism....and it's a lot more fun than just sitting on the sofa watching mind numbing TV, IMO.

wii fit board?? complete waste of money and time for me...BUT....

"Gold's Gym" Cardio, the boxing workout was phenomenal...you can use it with the board ( or without), and it burns calories in fierce fashion. you WILL ache until you get used to it, but I *know* that an hour of this 'game' every other day was a significant factor in helping me shift weight.

It's a fun workout game, but it is OLD..so you should be able to pick it up used for peanuts on ebay etc.

EDIT: I notice you are int he UK...in the UK I think the game is called ' my cardio trainer' or something like that...exactly the same game as gold's gym but different name.

Whatever gets you moving. I just recently started using mine again. I have had it for years. I have used it more in the past few weeks then I did since I had it.
  • Thank you!!! :D
Might as well go for it, it's much better than sitting on my bum bored!
Now to convince my parents that me buying from the internet (it's Amazon...) is safe, eek!
  • I think it is good for a fun alternative or getting younger kids into exercise. If you are trying to burn a lot of calories, I don't think it is the best choice as it is all fairly low impact .

Yeah you can get your heart rate up there doing the hula hoop for say 10 minutes straight, but I think you will get bored with that pretty quickly.

I have the wii fit, but I rarely use it, just for weigh in and for when I have family come over that wants to play with it. It is cool for kids though, because my nephews and nieces do little competitions of who can hold the plank pose longest or who can hula hoop the most in 3 minutes. It is a great way to get kids to get a little extra fitness in during their game time.

After I had my son I was having a difficult time dropping the weight and then I picked this up and lost 25 lbs fairly quickly. I am actually going to be getting back into it this week since I had to give up my gym membership. :( I will try to remember to post how it goes for me.

Thank you for this suggestion! I just bought a copy off of eBay.
  • it can be fun, but I never got any really serious workouts from it.
The gold's gym cardio boxing was my favourite wii fit board game.
in the wii fit program itself, I liked the ski jump, and sometimes would get on my treadmill for the free run. lol
