Arthritis
Anyone else dealing with arthritis?
I have a doctors appointment on Monday to have him look at my hands. My fingers/joints are swollen on 3 fingers, and they hurt so bad, It's hard to deal with.
Any tips on dealing with this until I can get to my doctor on Monday? I realize you're not doctors..

I have it bad. My knee, jaw, fingers, ect, all hurt. It's actually gotten better though. I just kinda push through it. If my knee starts achng to the point where it hurts to walk, I go easy on it. My knee brace helps if I need to wear it. Truthfully, the pain comes and goes. Ibuprohen is what I take. Sometimes a heating pad can help too. I don't have much advice but I know how darn painful it can be. I hope you get everything figured out.0

Ibuprofin used to help me a great deal, until it ate a hole in my stomach. You are doing the right thing by seeing a doctor. My doctor put me on a once a day anti-inflamitory. Not sure it helps as much as ibuprofin, but at least it makes it livable without the stomach bleeding.0

Yep. I take Voltaren (diclofenac) its an n-said. Ibuprofen over time will cause ulcers and kidney damage -you need to see a Dr.0

I've got it in my feet and ankles. It comes with flat feet.
I don't want to let it get to me. I try not to over medicate but sometimes it's just bad.
On really bad days, I switch back and forth between Tylenol and Motrin/Advil (to switch it up between my kidneys and liver taking a hit).
I've had a stomach ulcer, too. If I have to take something harsh, then I'll take it with food.
Also, I've been using an EMS/TENS machine to "shock" my pain. It works well on shoulders, ankles, knees and feet. Good luck.0 -
First off, nice profile pic!! Go Hawkeyes!!!!!
I have arthritis in my knee, definitely see a doctor, but what I use :
1. icing
2. kinesio taping has been a god-sent. when my knee is hurting, I will put it on and within 10-15 minutes the pain and swelling is gone. You would need to google how to properly apply it or find a PT who does kinesiology to figure out the best way to tape your joints.
3. Ibuprofen, but only when I've pushed it, ie: exercised without taping my knee beforehand0 -

Same here. Diclofenic user here. Also stay away from sulfides0 -
Thanks Everyone!
Looks like I will just deal with it until next week, and see what the doc says!
Also I will be laying off the ibuprofen, didn't know it could have that effect on a person0 -
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. As long as I take my Enbrel injections the pain is managed very well. I also use Tiger Balm, Mineral Ice, and paraffin wax as non-medical treatments. As long as I don't use heavy weights (to grip) or run, I can pretty much do any workout I want. I'd def stay away from anything that causes too much joint-impact.0
