Omg where do you buy your chicken breast? The back alley of wal-mart?

Any half way decent chicken is usually 3.99 a pound or higher. I typically buy the locally raised Amish chicken breasts and that is 5.99 a pound.

Wegmans, Price Chopper, and Shur-Save are the main places I go. Wegmans always has it $1.99 in the "big packs" of 5 pounds or more, and the other stores are often around $3.99, but go on sale for $1.99 regularly.... I guess to compete with Wegmans.

I scour online circulars before I shop and only buy what's the best price.

I usually pay $1.99/lb as well. Sometimes maybe $2.49/lb at the most. I don't live near any Amish people. It sounds like they think very highly of their chicken. I usually buy either the Smart Chicken brand or the Bare chicken brand that are both supposed to be free-range. Sometimes I get mine from a local meat market, when I'm buying meat by the bundle. (It's also free-range) Buying it by the bundle, it actually comes in at around $1.75/lb.

    Whole milk is your friend.

    It is grow juice.

    It is cheap.

2400 cal/gallon, 128 g protein. Add some chocolate milk powder, and you can eek out 3200+ cal/gallon.

Chocolate is my favorite way of adding calories!

using the body fat callipers as i've been told that's the most accurate method...i also used some formulas on the internet by measuring my waist etc and got around the same

Even if you're not 5% BF ... if you're a long distance runner then you won't have a lot of muscle but you should have definition. I was on the track team and I saw lots of skinny long distance runners all the time. No fat, not much muscle, but you could see all of it.

If you bulk up you will gain weight. I don't know if you run competitively but if you're doing long distance runs and you gain muscle, your run times will not like you.

Sounds like you need to bulk and actually put on muscle. :)
  • If you have 5% body fat and cant' see abs, I think you may be legally dead. Consult the local police department.
trying to be clever are we, how about you just STFU ***** and get back in the kitchen i never said i was a body-builder did i?

  • So you want to change your body, but not change your behaviors? Good luck with that. If you want change, you need to change. You need to eat more, lift weights, and possibly do less cardio.

I never pay more than $1.99 per pound for boneless chicken breast. Great source of protein there, and you'll get a LOT more bang for your buck from a pound of chicken than a McDouble and small fry.

A typical dinner for me is about 6-8 ounces of chicken stir fried with frozen vegetables, mixed with some kind of sauce or marinade, on a bed of pasta or rice. Probably about $2 worth of food, and is cooked within 20 minutes. Cook up a pile of chicken ahead of time, and that'll save you more time on a daily basis. I baked a pile of chicken tenderloins last week, and I've been adding a couple ounces to Lean Cuisine type frozen entrees for lunch, since they're woefully low in protein, but easy and convenient.
i don't live in america so food is much more expensive

Damn dude. You're the one who needs to get back in the kitchen if you want to get abs. Let’s not use overplayed internet memes when we're asking for help. Keep that **** on /b/ please.

Okay first..stop picking on him guys.. some of us were just born ectomorphs.. Im 5.5% body fat right now.. measured using calipers by a trainer AND even did the water weighing.. Im not no " Andreas Münzer" Because im not 6 feet something and weigh 220.. Im 5"8 and weigh 165 ish. I have similar probelms sometimes, I use to ALWAYS see my abs at like 120 lbs.. then I heavy duty weight trained for a couple years I landed 177 as my highest weigh in.. and only had top 4 abs at 7% body fat. NOW Im back at 5.5% and 157 and can only see my abs when flexing or if I just hit them at the gym. Everyone is different.. skin thickness is different. He isnt "lying" So stop bashing his stats. I believe it. If you want to see me Go look for me on Facebook, Robert Jarden. I have some shirtless pics.. Im not "ripped" like these models you speak of. BUT I do have same question too.. I hit my abs hard, but I cant see them how I used too..

Lighten up Dude, where's your sense of humor??? You've got a lot of great answers here, might not be what you want to hear, but seems like most answers are dead-on correct. Up you calories to build muscle and lift heavy.

I agree with the others: lift heavy and eat more, especially protein rich foods.

Don't forget state have different prices. I can get mine about two something a pound normally. Pork is about one something. and beef is more.

doesn't a lot of cardio burn muscle? With low body fat and a defect in cals since you have trouble eating as much as you burn, wouldn't your body burn muscle for energy? I think I heard this somewhere before. I just can't remember if it was right or not.

On the side do you take any protein shakes or bars to help give you more protein?

How do you know you're at 5% body fat?

I'd say that your abs just aren't that developed. They're showing, but you just don't like what they're showing you. Also, if you're a long distance runner that may be part of your problem too. Runners aren't really known for defined muscles (at least the runners I see).

    hi,
i'm 5"11 and weigh just 55kgs (i know it's underweight but i'm a long distance runner)..i'm of 5% body fat but my abs only show very lightly..how do i get them to show more? do i need to drop my Body fat percentage further? what exercises are the best and would also appreciate some diet tips as my diet focuses largely around carbs and some protein here and there with very little/minimal fat

I've taken the liberty of inserting a pic of 2 Kenyan marathoners. It is believed that Kenyan chmapion male runners are around 6% to 10% BF surviving on primarily carbcentric diets. Do your abs look like theirs?

Assuming you're in Auckland ~ there are many places where you can buy affordable good food. Minority owned markets for one, but that is neither here nor there, if you aren't able to cook for yourself.

    Then you are not 5%.

Very few people ever see that low level of body fat. Most people who claim they are 5% are more like 10-12%. If you are 5'8" and 165lbs and 5% bodyfat you would look like a ripped physique model, straitations everywhere.
