I am very very much an emotional eater! I have been my whole life. The problem is I don't just eat when I'm sad, I eat when I'm happy, I eat when anything is different than normal. I plan vacations around food. It took me many years to figure it out. I even realized that even now at 34 years old, if I don't feel well I somehow think shoving my face with food will make me feel better. So I don't think theres an easy way to cope. The best thing I did was recognize it! Once I realized what I was doing I could make adjustments. I had to find new "feel good" foods because the old ones were horrible especially in mass quantities! So now I find that a quick 5 or 10 minute walk outside takes the edge off the moment. I don't even count the burn from the walk because I feel like its just something I MUST do to clear my head and remind me about why I'm doing this. Unfortunatly every time I get to my goal all my old habits come right back so thats why this is my third time trying to losing the exact same 20-30 lbs that I've battled with for years. So I'd say that my fix isn't long term but for the short term it sure helps.

I read a brilliant book which helped me-.'eating less' by Gillian Riley. You can download it as an ebook,

I had bulimia till 2 years back, I took care of that disorder and lost a whooping 70 pounds. Now, I'm an emotional eater and I have gained half the weight back :( But i'm trying, and trying for good. So I hear you *hugs*
