and I don't know why.
This started Tuesday, everytime I ate something I felt nauseous. (no, I am not pregnant) I would get an upset stomach, really bad cramps and within an hour be running to the bathroom. Yesterday, I didn't eat hardly anything because I worked a hell-a long day at work and couldn't have those issues there. This morning, I woke up starving and made myself a delicious breakfast to savor, and had to throw over half of it away because I started to feel ill. What the hell is wrong with me?? I have been looking forward to all the yummies coming my way today, and now this!

turkey has a chemical in it(wild or store bought) that makes you sleepy, can't explain the cramps and nausea though..0

The sleepy time chemical mentioned is Tryptophan... an amino acide that is known to assist in sleep! I don't think it makes you sick at your stomach, however! I've noticed now that I have de-toxed off a lot of foods that I have suddenly consumed while my daughter is visiting that the other night I literally thought I was going to need a visit to the ER! Obviously, my body doesn't like a lot of junk any more! Any idea if you have eaten something you haven't had in a while that maybe your system is rebelling against? If not, I agree with the advice of seeing your doctor, particularly if this persists for more than a week!0

Are you eating alot of diary products. That sounds like what I feel like when I eat diary, and I am lactose intolerant. If it keeps it up you sound see a Doctor.

I haven't had any turkey yet! :-) I haven't been eating bad i.e. junk, but I haven't been eatlng a lot either. I made grilled salmon and rice pilaf the other night for dinner and I thought it was going to kill me. This morning, I made scrambled eggs with a little bit of cheese and some ham in them. Within 3 bites, I was feeling ill.0 -

This is actually not true... there's not a high enough dosage of tryptophan in turkey to have this effect on you. Only pure high doses have a sedative effect. What actually makes you sleep after a huge holiday meal is a large portion of your blood rushing to your midsection (and away from your head) and also an increase in your body temperature as your body begins to process a large (usually carb-heavy) meal. The combination of these two effects will make you drowsy (and alcohol will help too if you imbibe at the holidays).0 -

I agree. This sounds a lot like gallbladder issues. Get an actual diagnosis before it becomes an emergency situation.0 -
It's time for a call to the doctor's office.
Even though losing weight and getting in shape is ultimatel better for your body, lifestyle changes and weight changes can often reveal otherwise undiagnosed conditions.0 -
I totally agree with the posters saying see your doctor as it could be any number of things, but I gotta ask, is it nerves? Nothing like the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (grocery shopping and planning) to bring on the stress of the impending season. An upset stomach and all that is associated with it can happen. Maybe go for a walk to spend some alone time and try to relax as much as possible?0

Really see your doctor asap, best wishes!!0

I guess anything is possible. But, I am not any more stressed than normal. Not cooking dinner today, going to a friends house. But the holidays do bring that extra stuff that no one wants to deal with. I will call my doc in the AM just to be sure.0 -
I am agreeing with all the people saying to go to the doctor.0

Until you can get to doctor drink ginger tea and eat mild things. I just wanted to get off caffeine about 4 years ago and started drinking traditional medicine ginger tea every morning and my doctor told me I naturally cured my stomach problems.
She had noticed my stomach was hard and was going to have me do tests but next time I came in after tea was all better.
I also stopped getting heartburn from spicy food or red wine after having the tea for years.0 -

When i had gallbladder issues it was like this too! I was sick for 4 months before the doctors figured out what was wrong. They kept thinking it was appendicitis which can come on very fast and can be deadly. It sucks that it is today because most clinics aren't open but you should go see a doctor!0 -
Probably getting the flu and thanksgiving is not all about eating anyways!0
-
this sounds like constipation or gallstones to me0
-
Hope you're feeling better; can you take some Gravol or something to help keep the nausea away so you can get through the day? If you're in the U.S. I have a feeling you might have to wait until next week to see a doctor what with the holidays but if it gets really bad go to the ER!0
-
If you are feeling fine and it only happen when you eat maybe you need to be uh uh uh cleaned out sorry TMI, but people don't do like the old days and take medicine to flush their insides. Again sorry for the TMI moment. I hope you feel better soon.0
-
It could just be a plain old virus. I had one on Thanksgiving years ago, similar symptoms, and it lasted about a week. I did go to the doctor but that was all they could diagnose. I think all I ate at Thanksgiving dinner was a roll! Take care of yourself and freeze some leftovers. It won't be the same but you can still enjoy the food when you're feeling better.0
-
Thanks everyone! I had a very light dinner and my *wine* was ginger ale. It didn't hit me as hard as it had earlier, maybe because I was expecting it and was taking precautions (not eating a lot, taking lots of time between bites, water etc) .
The good in this: I got to taste everything and didn't over do it, so there is no guilt when I go back to the gym. :-)
But yeah, I wil be calling the Dr when they open today.0 -
I ate a very small amount of Thanksgiving dinner, but it was enough. I had a wonderful time with my friends and that's what counts.
Today, I went to the Dr and she has started me on some meds for IBS. So we will see how that goes. Thanks for all the input!0
