Ok so my and a friend go to the gym together 3 times a week tho i want to start going to 1 class as well so that would make it 4 days a week which is fine with me i would rather go everyday and then not run the risk of spending the afternoon napping like i have been known to do.
Anyways back to my point. We both need to lose at least 80 pounds which is fine, but here is the delema everytime we go to the gym we have to put her 2 boys (7 months and 3) into the provided day care, and appearently her baby doesnt like us doing cardio because as soon as we start doing our 20 mins of cardio after our weights she gets paged to the day care to come and retrieve the baby because he is screaming and wont stop.

yesterday he was hungry and of course the girls there "can't" feed him. or change diapers or do anything really but play with them.

Anyways i am looking for suggestions as to how to make sure we get that cardio in there..

help!!

Thanks everyone.

Let her go tend to the babies... then go back to the gym and finish up! You could sit with her to keep her company, or do something else in the gym while you wait for her to finish.

I agree, have her wait for you to finish up! Also, maybe try doing the cardio before the weights. Maybe the more time the kids are in the daycare, the more antsy they get?
  • see i though about that doing our 10 minute warm up and then going straight in to like 15 mins of solid cardio (while saving 5 mins for a cool down at the end) and then doing the weights but will that affect us differently??

Maybe she should try to feed the baby just before you start working out. I don't know if that would work because I don't know her feeding schedule--of course, maybe they should get some better day care workers! (I've never heard of a day care for babies that doesn't do diapers, etc!)
  • See he ate right before we went in to the gym. So i dont know what his issue was because he didnt eat much when she went into feed him of course he is teething so i dont know if that had anything to do with it....

Teething would do it. A cold, clean washcloth (freeze it before you go to the gym) always seemed to work best for my kids--cold numbs the pain and the 'nubby' texture seems to help, too.

If your goal is only 35 minutes right now (15 minutes weights, 20 minutes cardio) and the baby is fed right before you leave... perhaps OFF SITE daycare is something you can look into. If the baby is fed and clean before you drop him/her off - then even if he/she cries and gets fussy for whatever reason (probably because he's having mommy-withdrawal) then he/she will still be just fine 45 minutes later when you pick them up. But the two of you will get your much needed/wanted exercise session in- and she won't feel the need to walk off because they HAVE TO- Most babysitters/daycare places are used to and expect to have fussy crying babies at times.

Take care of yourself first and let her do what she needs to do.
  • Yeah i know but we are trying to do it together so i feel bad when i continue without her. But i know i need to do it for myself. I might talk to my trainer about switching up the cardio a little bit. We could just wait for her hubby to get home and then go but then its around 6:00 and i lose my motivation i would rather go right after work...

Actually, do weights prior to cardio. it burns more calories.
  • see thats our issue is that we dont get the cardio in at the end of the work out haha we will have to figure something out.
