    My wife and I retired (early) to the Auvergne in 2006. We are about 75kms NW of Clermont-Ferrand, in the Puy de Dome departement.

    Hi. I am also an early retiree (very early, obviously!), and moved to South Dordogne a few months ago. I am loving it here, although still settling in and unpacking the last few boxes:)

    My husband worked as an ex-pat in Paris in the late '70's, and loved it. This was a long time before I met him. That's as close to France as I will probably ever get, but I think you are all very lucky!
