Weight charts

I'm pretty sure in my younger days (I'm 56 now, 5ft 7"), weight charts had different 'bands' for male/female, that also included age.

Current charts (including the UK NHS) show charts which are valid for all adults over 18.

According to the charts for my height I should be 10st 4lbs, just to get into the healthy band. Absolutely no way could I ever weigh that little and be alive - it would mean losing another 2 stone. My wife is already telling me not to lose any more weight.

Anyone know if the old age/sex charts did exist, or is it just my 'older' memory ;-)

They still exist...google again...but also look for one that considers body frame.. I actually went to a performing arts doctor who gave me my own personal weight range.

That's really great!! I have a similar problem - when I get my BMI down to 25, I am skinny and beyond! Quite muscular and my family is also just heavy even when really thin......... hope that makes sense.......

    I hear ya!

BMI chart says the highest "healthy" weight I should be at 5'3 is 130lbs (9st, 3lbs). However, I am certain I would look like a bag of bones at that weight, so my goal is 140 (10st).

BMI is a pile of poo IMHO.

Same here - I know I would like to be really lean to fully enjoy my yoga, but at 5'3 "THEY" would like me to be between 8.5 - 9 stone! The lightest I have ever been has been 10 stone and I could see abdominal muscles - oh for those days again!

Interesting website here: http://www.changingshape.com/calculators/ideal-body-weight/ - but again; ridiculoius figures.
