Started running tonight...

Someone on MFP mentioned Couch To 5 K as a way to start running, so I did my first run tonight. Figured out how to turn my phone into an mp3 player and took off, alternating between 2 minutes of walking then 1 minute of jog/running.

Then I tripped over my own feet and and face planted on the roughest gravel in my neighborhood. Huge gash on my writing hand and my knee and my phone went flying. (Later when I could appreciate the humor, I chuckled a bit that it was still playing its music like nothing had happened.)

My first thought as I lay on the ground in the dark, clutching my hand in agony, was, "Well, so much for running."

I got up, picked up my phone, and began to limp my way home.

Eight minutes later, I started running again, splattering blood like a walking crime scene. And I continued until I was done with the day's quota. I've never been so proud of myself. :blushing:

I'm a total baby about my booboos. Hydrogen peroxide, neosporin, 6 bandaids, and 1 roll of gauze later, I was feeling good! Haha. Went to work in that getup and added a glove because it was cold. Looked like Michael Jackson with just one on, though.

:noway: In daylight?! Poor thing! I was running at night so no one would see me, but I think that worked too well. Couldn't see my own feet, haha. Might run at twilight next time.

Hope so! Never in my life thought I could ever be a runner, but suddenly that's just what I want for myself!
