Hey everyone! I go to panama city Florida in 16 weeks...my friend recently ran a half-marathon and I thought 'what better motivation than to begin a running training schedule just in time for Florida! Is this realistic? I'm 5'3", 135lbs, 21 yrs. old (not much to lose, maybe 15lbs and tighten up) and have been running 2 miles and the plan begins with 3 and slowly keeps adding. I believe one can do anything if there minds into it (even if I walk at times) Is this enough time? Just wondering if anyone ever attempted this in 4 months. Thanks!!!

I am running in a half marathon in April, it will be my 3rd. The best advice I can give you is to try to drop the pounds first and then focus on running. It is difficult (but not impossible) to do them at the same time. mostly because cutting calories and running a lot is counter productive; you need enough energy as to not compromise your body (getting injured). My first half I did just that, lost ten pounds and ran 13.1 miles for the first time! My second half, i gained back those ten pounds but ran with an improved time (almost 10 minutes faster!). So this time around, I am going for losing about 10 lbs before I start training, and naturally lose the last 10 by chance. If you google a training plan for a half marathon as a novice runner, it will most likely tell you that you are right on point to start training now!!! Let's keep each other motivated!! I had a bad week this week....real bad. so i am pretty much starting all over with the weight loss thing, so here we go!
