Negative red numbers

So today it says I have "left" -555% Vitamin A and -158% Vitamin C.. I got my vitamin A from lettuce, carrots, cabbage, fresh squeezed juice (celery ginger carrot beetroot) ..thats all healthy..so does it matter than the number is red and in the minus figures? I assumed that anything that was red meant its bad but I still had 27g fat remaining and 141carbs so the fact that i didnt go over them is that more significant than going over my vitamins? Also is too much fibre bad? Basically I guess what I'm asking is are the red numbers always a bad sign?

You could google about vitamin over-consumption but I think you just pee out the extra vitamins. And the fiber...errr...well that comes out too. It's a great way to keep things moving along if you remember to drink plenty of water.0

Some doctors will tell you the amount of fber recommended here is too low. Fiber is a good thing, no need to worry about it (unless you have something like Crohn's disease, in which case you need to be cautious).0

I don't know a ton of what high levels of vitamins will do, except unless you were pregnant. Are you juicing? That seems like the only way to get your numbers that high but still have your carbs and fat so low. You do need a balance of everything.
As for fiber. I always shoot for about 35 grams of fiber a day. It is a lot, and you will be in the bathroom a bit more, but it keeps me full and helps keep weight gain off. I would just make sure you are drinking plenty of water.0 -
overdo your vitamins all you want! just dont go wayyy overboard every day as longs as your calories carbs and fat are in the green your good!0

It depends on the vitamin, not all are peed out. Some build up in your system and cause issues.0

I would like to add a question to this. What about going red in Protein? I've been considering mixing a protein powder with water to have right after I work out. I am sure this will put me over the amount MFP suggest. Does anyone know if there are any health consequences that way?0

I'm always over my daily amount for vitamins A and C, Calcium, Iron and Dietary Fiber. I eat a lot of mandarins and I take One a Day Women everyday. I'm glad this question is here because it's good to know about this kind of thing.0

Unless you're pregnant, I wouldn't worry too much.
When I was pregnant, I had to avoid supplements and certain foods because high levels of Vitamin A can cause birth defects.0 -

Getting too much of a vitamin or mineral can be bad. It depends if the nutrient is soluble or not. If not then you want to be extra careful.
From memory both A and C are soluble, having said that, there are limits for these as well, but you can take a much higher dosage then recommended.0 -

if your working out it's ok to be over on protein as long as your within your calorie limit and not over in fats. I also don't worry about being over in fibre or vitamins as long as its not too high.0

MFP settings are really low. Unless you have a pre-existing kidney problem it absolutely fine to go over them. How about you reading up a little?

The only vitamins that there is any reasonable fear of dietary toxicity from are the fat-soluble vitamins- A,D,E and K. The rest are water soluble and you pee them out. Generally, the MFP numbers are low- the lowest level of side effects for vitamin A is something like 50,000 IU (1,000%) for a period of 18 to 24 months- for really low-level symptoms. Vitamin A is often prescribed for people with acne problems at 300,000-500,000 (6000%-10,000%) for periods up to 5 months with no symptoms. In other words, I wouldn't worry too much about your carrots and sweet potatoes poisoning you.
As for the protein- 15% protein is low, and when on a calorie restricted diet, it's really low. If you don't already have liver or kidney disease, being high in protein won't hurt you. If you do have liver or kidney disease, you should be getting your nutrition advice for your disease from your doctor, not internet forums. People regularly get as high as 50% protein with no problems, assuming they're healthy to begin with. 50% is really high, and you would really have to go out of your way to get there. OP, I'm sure your protein intake is safe.
ETA: I'm not even saying 50% is the upper limit for protein, just want to clarify. It's just the highest I've seen people eat with regularity. I have no idea what the upper limit would be. And for fiber- your digestive system will let you know if you've had too much. It can cause some issues in really high levels with vitamin and medicine absorption, but no need to worry about it unless you're getting a really excessive amount, probably 100g a day or more.0 -
If your calorie goal is 1200, this should be your net goal.
Do not worry about the other numbers until you achieve at least that minimum.

How about this - learn to read? Did I say you cannot go over? No. Its clear that there are limits, some high some low. Was I the clown that said going over RDI is fine - making it sound like eat as much as you want? No. Going over by a bit a lot? short term, long term? No.

Also in the nutrition class I took (teacher is a registered dietitian ) she made it a point that problems usually arrive with fat-souble vitamins when you are taking a multivitamin supplement. It is still possible to reach the upper limits through diet alone but difficult to.
Do some research for yourself and do what you your doctor/dietitian thinks is best for you.0
