While I would not consider or refer to a friend who is the same height/weight as I am @ any given moment as a "fat cow"....
no matter where I'm at, I still can view myself that way.......

and I'm beginning to understand how I personally help perpetuate this CRAZY MENTALITY OF what's *acceptable* and what isn't........

for EVERY TIME we refer to weighing ____lbs (fill in a number) as being "FAT" .... ..............

What are we saying to EVERY one of our friends who weigh MORE than that number ???

Just a challenge to myself and to others- THINK about how our own self- loathing affects those we're seeking to encourage. .

Agreed. Our children are also watching us talk about "good" foods vs. "bad" foods, not eating fruit because it has carbs (OMG), and referring to ourselves in terms of "fat", "beached whale", ect. Time to talk as well about ourselves as we do about others, ladies :)

I love, respect, and care too much for my friends to hide the truth from them.

I have fat friends. I have obese friends.

I don't shout down the grocery store isle "HEY FATTY" when shopping with them. I don't call them names. But I do not walk on egg shells around their weight.

    I agree with you.

And it's not about walking on egg shells around people. But when someone comes on this site and says how GROSS they are because they weigh 160 lbs. at about my height (145 is the upper limit of normal for my height), I just want to smack them. These are never people who are actually obese and they never look "gross". It's ridiculous and hurtful.
