Hello! Im new to MFP and I am looking for buddies and motivation! I am a stay at home mom, so I have the time to exercise I just cant find the motivation to do it.... I clean the house, do laundry, take care of my hubbie and kids, and cook all the meals. I dont know why I can't just cant suck it up and exercise lol. I figured its because I have no support buddies that are doing the same thing, or anyone to talk about it during the day (i love my cats, but they dont hold very good conversations lol)
I have an Elliptical at home which I got at a yard sale this summer for $30, and I have the kinect with dance central and zumba. Do you think these are good things to excercise with? I am usually always under my 1200 cal/day. I eat maybe twice a day, have a cup of coffee in the morning and drink water all day.
Thanks for any ideas, or thoughts :flowerforyou:

IMO you are not eating enough, What are you eating for your two meals? Working out at home is a good and inexpensive way to go. You can do anything as long as the heart rate gets elevated. There are lots of good people on here with ideas that can help!!0

I would definitely say try to eat more! It seems like you have really good meals but maybe throw some fruit or veggies in between. That should give you some extra energy. Welcome and good luck!0

I don't get hungry during the day, thats why I only eat twice a day. For lunch I might have sandwich, or soup, some pizza rolls, little stuff like that and for dinner I make things like meatloaf, pork chops, mashed potatoes. We pretty much always have meat, corn or green beans/broccoli, potatoes or noodles
(i have very picky kids and a hubby who likes his meat and potatoes)0 -
Hello and welcome
well first i'm no expert but you are not eating enough food you should be eating at least 5 small meal a day and your calorie count should be more than 1200. Is that amount of calories MFP gave you? Your eliptical and zumba tapes are excellent source of exercise. You might want to start out by picking a 30 minute show to watch on tv and do the eliptical while watching that fast you have 30 minutes in and then maybe after you put the children to sleep you can do the zumba tape this way you have worked out twice a day and watching what you eat you are bound to drop a few pounds.0 -
hubby likes meat and potatoes you eat meat and a nice steamed vegetable0

Yes, MFP gave me the goal of 1200/day0

I'm thinking about the days I was a stay at home mom. I felt really isolated at first because we'd recently moved from our home town and I didn't know anyone. I was able to make friends in the neighborhood and we all dieted together, and walked in the mornings before our husbands left for work. It was fun and motivating, and all of us successfully lost weight. I gained it back later, and here I am. Your machines sound fine but if you can get some variety and companionship in your day, you'll be happier. Luckily this website is filled with supportive people and that is a help with motivation. Lots of people are mall walkers, which gives a safe place to get exercise in any weather. Others join gyms. Mall walking is free, but gyms cost more than I could afford back then.0

Well, aside from the amount you eat....I would say the elliptical and the kinect dance games are great exercises. Personally, I would add maybe an ab workout or some kind of strength training. Also, there will be people who tell you what you eat is wrong, how much you eat is wrong, when you eat is wrong, how you workout is wrong, everything is wrong....you have to do what works for you.
So when I say the elliptical and kinect games are good workouts, I say that out of personal experience. They may or may not work for you. Good luck.0 -
welcome on board
drink water whole day?0 -
Welcome to the group! My calorie intake went UP from the original 1200 to 1250. I've been trying to exercise, but it's been rather difficult being under the weather and dealing with the changing weather. I'd love to add you as a friend!0

Yes, besides the one cup of coffee I drink in the morning, all I drink is water all day. I stopped drinking soda over a year ago. It started with the headache meds I was on, It made soda taste funny, so I stopped. I changed headache meds but still just drank water. I drink about 4 bottles a day0

Yeah, exactly. Do whatever works right for you.
My diet plan is simple: watch what I eat, watch how much I eat, exercise, and drink plenty of water. You've got the water part down good, so you don't have anything to worry about!
The only soda I've had in the past 10 months has been one 8-oz cup of Sprite and a little Sprite in a virgin peach daquiri.
I haven't touched a Coke or any caffeinated drink in about...23 years.0 -
well, 4 bottles a day. IMO everyone would say more is better.
One thing is superb. you have been stopped with soda, this is amazing. very well done
I did this too when I was 25. worked like a charm.0 -
