Sugar allowance

I'm 164cms, 79.9kg and MFP gives me 1200 calories a day and 24g of sugar.

I know I've only just started on this journey but I'm finding it incredibly difficult to keep to that target. perhaps it's just an education thing? I'm more of a fruit that veggies person - Is this where the problem is?

Any suggestions appreciated

Ignore it if you do not have a medical issue.

    oh, ok then.

So (novice question here)... should I just watch fats, protein and carbs? If so, is it possible to remove the sugar counter?

You can go to My Home -> Settings -> Diary Settings and edit what you'd like to see. If you think your sugar comes from fruit and don't want to worry about it, definitely just get rid of it. Consider maybe adding sodium instead? Sodium is definitely something that it's good to keep an eye on
  • You may be going too low in your calorie intake. My dietians had me to figure up how many calories I burn per day then she told me not to go below 300 calories less than what I would eat to maintain. I currently eat 2000 a day and have lost 21 lbs.

thats what i do. i aim for 40/30/30 ish. i dont care about sugar. if i have 3 servings of fruit per day (which is always, sometimes more) than im over. i eat clean and am still over. so yeah unless youre getting like 100g/day then dont worry

Sodium and fiber are good to walk too. And with only 40 ish lbs to lose, set your account to 1 lb per week. Any more than that can be too aggressive and could lead to a plateau.
