before a workout carbs or protien???

I have a question for anyone out there. I am working witha trainer who said to eat good carbs before meeting her to work out so my body has the energy to complete the workouts. I went to a vitamin store today and the owner said it is better to eat protien before a workout because if you eat carbs before you are not burning fat. They both are in great shape... who is right?

    I've been told carbs are good before & protein is better for after. I'm not sure either! :ohwell:

    That's funny - I've heard protein before and carbs after.......I'm not sure, but it would be good to know!
  • have a little of both. the carbs will give you energy faster, but the energy won't last as long. the protein will stick with you till the end of the workout. just don't eat right before you work out >_< i did that last week because i was too hungry and in a rush and i felt really really really gross after i got back from the gym. make sure to drink lots of water, too!
