Cleansing - starting strong - water weight -

So alot of people have told me that when you first start to lose weight you will see a larger than normal drop at first. Mostly water weight and what not.
The other thing Ive heard is that it helps to do some sort of cleanse in order to get alot of the muck out that you have built up over time.
People tell me that a good cleanse can actually yield between 5-10 lbs loss.
Has anyone experienced this?
I can tell you that I suck at making things (food) .. so these add this, crush that, specialty erbs and spices .. that never seems to be something I'll follow through with.
Ive been on and off the wagon for probably 5 solid months .. I need a good kick start that will show some good loss in order to keep me motivated. Im all about the results. If I feel like Im not accomplishing anything I tend to get frustrated and discontinue things.
Deep down I know that proper weight loss takes time.. but Im the guy that sits up watching infomercials wondering if this product or that product could work for me.
Ive even considered Lipo.. Im not gonna do it.. but Ive considered it on more than one occasion.

The weight loss program I was involved with jump-started weight loss by 2 weeks of liquids (600-800 cal making sure at least 60-80 grams protein a day) then transfer to a limited choice of 3 shakes and one meal (1200 cal making sure at least 60-80 grams protein a day) until you are taught healthy eating of regular food by a dietian.
With the liquid diet one can lose a fair bit ..from 15-25 lbs. the limited choice one can as well. realize with such dieting at about 5-6 weeks you may plateau/stall but once the body adapts it jumps into losing mode again.0 -
There is no "muck" inside you that needs to cleaned out. Assuming your body is functioning normally, it's being cleansed just fine.
I tried fasting on a few occasions in order to "kick start" my diet. All it did was make me miserable for a day or so and then I just went back to how I was living before. The same with various diet shakes and programs "as seen on T.V."
The thing that actually worked: Eating at a 20% cut from my TDEE. Logging every day at MFP. Using a food scale to get proper portion sizes. Exercising regularly. Recording my weight every day so I can see when real losses (not water losses) occur. Taking a day off when I feel like it. It's boring. But it's also easy, effective, and sustainable.0 -

Instead of a muckraking cleanse, try setting some short term, realistic goals and sticking with them. Log everything that passes your lips. Set a weekly fitness goal. Reward yourself for achieving small victories. Taking drastic measures does not make for a good kick-start, unless you're trying to kick-start a yo-yo diet.0

I don't think cleansing really helps anything, especially not fat loss. Yes, you would probably lose some water weight, and gain it back when you start eating normally again. If you are healthy, then your liver, kidneys and digestive system do a pretty god job of "cleansing" your body. If you really want to get healthy through nutrition, then it's how you eat most of the time that matters. Doing a cleanse for a few days is not going to make a permanent difference. At worst, it could actually harm you. Drinking plenty of water is good. Eating plenty of vegetables is good. However, eating protein and fats is also good, and those no real reason to take a break from that.
Here's a tip that has helped me - stop looking for quick fixes. Stop seeing it as either "on the wagon" or "off the wagon". Listen to that deep-down voice that is telling you that weight loss takes time. It really does. It's long, and it's boring, and you need more determination than fleeting "motivation". Weight-loss doesn't need a "kick start". You just need to start... and continue. Even when it gets boring and annoying, just keep at it. Look at the "success stories" section. Look at the people who are really successful. You'll see people that took their time, and just kept going. Kept eating right, resisting temptation, kept going to the gym, or going out for a run when they didn't really feel like it, or whatever. That's what it takes. Bottom line is, you're going to be successful, or you're not. Doing a "cleanse" now isn't going to have any effect on that.0 -
I have beach front property for you.....
Unless you have issues with your kidneys and liver....cleansing is a stupid topic.0 -
