Compared to a lot of people on this website, I don't have a lot of weight to lose. For years, I have been trying to lose 5 lbs. I discovered this website in January and focused a bit more. My goal is to lose 7 lbs. The scale started to consistently move down 122 to 118. A injured hip means I haven't run in almost two weeks, it hurts with walking too (seeing the doctor tomorrow). A week of too many treats, wine, potato chips etc and my weight loss has disappeared. I am so disappointed in myself....finally, I made progress and I tossed it away...

  • its ok.. i feel your pain! Im not even injured and i ate all day saturday and sunday.. until i was in physical pain..im sure i gained 1-3 pounds easily!! now i have to start all over again!! but if we give up and eat like crazy again.. we will really be sorry! so lets forget about the screw up and start over! maybe the hi caloric week will spike your metabolism help drop a couple pounds fast when you are eating your right amt of cals again :)

    Hi, Sue;

    sorry to hear about your injury - hope you'll feel better soon! :flowerforyou:

    I doubt that you've gained 4 pounds of fat in one week - you would have to eat 14,000 calories above your maintenance amount. Since you're mentioning potato chips I suspect it's water retention. Drink lots of water, watch the sodium in your food, and when you see the doctor make sure you mention that you're still having pain.

    Don't fret about the exercise - it's not essential for weight loss, but do try to get back to healthy eating.

    All the best! :drinker:

    I second that...plenty of water and just hop back on your calorie counting! My downfall this weekend was beer...even though I burned 600+ calories at the gym yesterday, I "ruined" it with 3 coors lights last night! It's disappointing, but I'm going to kick it in high gear this week to make up for it! Good luck with the injury. Have you tried weight training? You could exercise the parts of your body that aren't injured, and build muscle tissue, which ups your metabolism in general. Just a thought....

    Many thanks for your encouraging words...I needed them. I'm on track with food today and walked 40 minutes at lunch. I've even had more than 8 cups of water already.

    Onwards and upwards....

  • Ah, I had a day like that this weekend, too, and it seemed I pretty much ate everything that wasn't nailed down! It's so easy to feel sorry for ourselves...I know I think "Well, I've gone and screwed it up big time, so what's the point?" But you know what, yesterday, I got right back on track with my eating right and exercise. I don't feel bad about being a Hoover vacuum anymore, and know that we all have a bad day here and there! I'm sure you'll have no problems getting back on track!
