Can I get your opinion?

I'm talking about TDEE. I am battling with what my TDEE most likely is. If I could get some educated opinions it may ease my mind...or make things worse but its worth a shot. Heres my info..if i forgot anything let me know....

I think my BMR is about 1550
I am 28 years old, female
5'5 and currently weight 169.5 lbs
My BF% is roughly 30%

I typically exercise 3 days a week, burning 300-400 calories each session per my HRM
I have an active job in retail where I am on my feet 8-10 hours per day 5-6 days per week. I was thinking this put me in the moderate activity level but im not sure.

Any help would be appreciated I think I just need other people to confirm my own thoughts for me to believe them , thanks in advance :)

    use this calc :)

    www.scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
  • I have put my numbers in scooby, get one number, put them in something else get another number...i've seen answers of anywhere between 2400-2800 TDEE and then there is the activity level question. I never know if 3 days a week plus an active job means something different than moderate ..ect... ?

a user called heybales posted this earlier... maybe it will help you
How much have you been eating on avg daily for last 3 weeks - X

How much have you lost over the last 3 weeks - Y

    X + (Y * 3500 / 21) = TDEE

i got the 2400 to maintain (i used moderate, could prob go up) so to lose i would eat 2000 or 2100.

this is a good calc too, its more specific...

Being on your feet all day in retail and exercising your probably moderate on the lower end of the calorie range.. Most TDEE calculators aren't going to give you 1 number, its more of a try it and see what happens kind of thing. If you dont gain any weight eating at TDEE for 6 weeks, then you probably found it, if you lose/gain then you need to readjust your calories.

If you really want to lose weight forget messing around with TDEE. Take your BMR plus about 200 and give it a try. Or at least take your TDEE as sedentary and only add intentional exercise as you do it. Just being on your feet all day doesn't burn a significant amount of calories. I used to work 10 hour shifts in a warehouse all day and found that it made no difference at all to my weight. Your body gets very used to what you always do.

I'd start around 2200-2300 for TDEE estimate.
  • Thank you everyone for your replies, I will try to narrow in on it using some of these ideas. I may go to sedentary and just add intentional exercise...that seems the easiest thus far I think :)

I used the calculations on this post http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 supported by a spreadsheet that heybales produced you can input all your activities in the spreadsheet to get a pretty accurate TDEE and cut number. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/717858-spreadsheet-bmr-tdee-and-deficit-calcs-macros-hrm.

I have been using these and they seem to be working for me (when I stick to my numbers ;-) )

I think either say you're moderatley active and don't log your workouts or say your lightly active (because of your job) and log your workouts.

I'm 5'5" currently 133pounds and probably net (not gross) an average of 1500-1600 cals a day (gross prob 1700, 1400-1500 during the week 2000+ during the weekends), I also do 2 zumba classes and try to do some walking, but I have a desk job which I have to drive to. I log as sedentary and log zumba classes plus any walks I take that are above 20minutes fast paced and not part of my usual sedentary routine) With this I lose an average of 1/2 to 1pound a week. I hope this is helpful in calculating what ballpark your intake may need to be since we're fairly similar stats. :)

    Good luck x
