Hey all,

A bit about me 6ft4 so I can carry weight off well although I do have a belly and chin. Was 16.5stone (which I was happy with) a few years ago was a happy 10 a day smoker, more if I went out on a session.

Anyway, settled down and had 4 attempts at stopping smoking and every time appeared to substitute cigs for snacks and banged a stone onto my weight each time. I hardly drink so it is what I eat that's the problem and lack of exercise.

Finally stopped smoking 1.5years ago and since then sat at 20.5stone.

2012 is the time to monitor what I eat and try and lose some of that puppy fat and get some self image confidence back LOL

I have had a look at other on-line sites such as nutri-something and weight watchers food diaries over the past year but found this site initially on my ipad and I'm very impressed. Will be ditching the other sites asap.

Also tried the lighter life diet when I was hitting 19.5stone for 2 weeks. I went into Ketosis and lost a stone and it nearly killed me, my body didn't like that so ate a plate of egg, chips and buttered bread to come off it :)

And to top it off I live with a BAD diabetic so the house is always stocked with chocolate and biscuits, temptation to mindlessly snack is always in my way and I have little willpower against the calling of chocolate from the fridge. I can hear the chocolate woo'ing me over to it when Im alone on a night. "come to me, you know you want to take a bite of the yummy chocolately goodness within Alex.." ARghhhhhhhh!!!

Happy New Year!!

My chocolate does that too!!! I have had a bad morning when the jaffa cakes won!! I am at the start of my journey too after putting on weight since having my second daughter and then adding a stone over christmas!!

You can do it and so can I, so good luck, feel free to add me if you need support.

Enjoy MFP, it can work wonders, especially the support system of friends.

Set some goals, maybe sign up for some kind of sporting event as a target and get moving, you will surely see the pounds melt away and find the eating control that we all seek.

Also, as an ex-smoker myself, I know that the best way to clear out those lungs is to use them to suck down lots of air!

Hi Degger, I lost 3 stone with Nutracheck - awesome site, nice and simple to use and very few overachievers hogging the forums but it costs each month.

This site is great but full of overachievers (like myself) and some of the stuff spouted on the forums is absolutely laughable so be cautious.

Welcome and add me if you like. I'm 47 and live in Wales and am currently maintaining.

Well I thought I would ressurect my first post on here from back in January. Must say its certainly been a journey where I have educated myself on food without making much sacrifice, rather being more aware of the types of foods and my limits. Still using the scanning food diary app, but I'm happy to say 11 months in and I'm 3lbs away from my goal and 2lbs away from being officially overweight rather than obese on the bmi scale!!

Only think is, I still have a stomach so I feel I once I hit 17.5stone I need to shift set a new target for my holidays in June 2013!!!

Its been a pleasure so far, many ups and downs. Also I find a relation ship breakup does wonders for losing weight LOL!!!
