Are there any other geeks out there?

I know you're out there. You know my woes. Late nights, snacking by computer light. Stress from work leads to a bowl of chips, which leads to a bag of chips. Maybe it's a new game, school (both sides of the podium), research, dissertation ... whatever. A Mt. Dew/Monster addiction? Are you using the Wii/PS3/Xbox to lose those pounds? I'm with you. The geek lifestyle is hard on the waist.
When I realized that I needed to do something, I turned to the internet. I had such great success with this about two years ago; but, with my dissertation and late night, bad habits crept in. No time to exercise and lack of sleep were not a good mix. By the time I made it through, I was so burned out that I let it all go ... and go it did. So here I sit ... I really want my healthy life back. I'm committed to rejoining, but most of my friends are now lapsed. I know that what I need is a team of geeks in my corner who understand.
Geeks ... you out there? Geek mommas? Geek poppas? Hello? Mrs. Pommelhorse? Anybody?

We're out here!
I'm sporting quite the lovely computer tan. I got sucked in by games as a preteen and only very recently, on the verge of 30, have I finally come up for air. Enthusiasm I have, focus...maybe not so much, but that's why I'm here.
I'd be proud and pleased to join your geek team!0 -
Hi welcome! Not a dad *forever_alone.jpg* but geek for sure. We're around. In case you haven't seen or joined yet, here's a couple of MFP groups that may interest you.

I'm here with you. Spent my early years playing sports, blew out my knee, and found video games. Been doing that ever since and let myself go. Finally getting back into things, and away from the all nighters!0

hmm, what would make one a geek? I think I'm more nerdy than geeky.0

I'm a rare breed. I'm a Joeek...for those of you who don't know what that is, I'm a Jock and a Geek at the same time. All through school, and to this day, I have always been a Joeek. I have played baseball my entire life (played highschool varsity, and was supposed to play college until i tore my rotator), was selected to be main shooter for the US Olympics European Handball team while in college (right before i tore my rotator...again FML), Football through school, ect ect ect. Then there was the other side of me. My nights and free time at school consisted of me hanging with geek friends playing Nintendo 64 in the senior lounge and playing card games. My school was very small (250ish in my graduating class) so everyone knew everyone, and by the time senior year started, everyone hung out with everyone and we had a blast.
Now, as a 25 year old single father of a 2 year old girl, my time is limited to half the week (when the ex has her), and i spend my free time doing the same things as i did back in the day...playing sports and video games. I bowl in league every week, and still play baseball over the summer, go to the gym 4 times a week.....but when i'm home, i am on xbox or playstation with my buddies playing call of duty.
So yes I'm a geek at heart0 -
Fellow geek here - of the bookworm variety It's definitely hard to fit in workouts between assignments and massive 40% final seminar papers :S Oh and exams in two weeks. Top that off with work and volunteering and it all adds up to needing more than 24 hours in the day! (I've actually tested it at one of my conferences with our incoming first years and leaders!)0

I'm a huge fan of Fitocracy. Fitness for Geeks. You level up and compete against others on the website. They have an Iphone App, but the Android is still in beta. Definitely something to check out. There's quests, challenges, plus your everyday "grinding" to level yourself. Check it out.0

My typical response would be something along these lines:
Bah weep gra naa weep ninnybong, gimme some sugar baby, wibbly wobbly timey wimey, I aim to misbehave, what are you doing dave, I love you, I know, bazinga, you gotta pay the troll toll, I am the last of the brunan G, careful where you tread, cleric, fear is the mindkiller, omega hedron, lament configuration, great scott, cage goes in the watah, shaaks in the watah, white star fleet, engage, flux capacitor, the truth is out there, cal-el, have you turned it off and turned it back on again? I'm a lady, that's what she said, shiny, smeg, I've got a plan that so cunning you could pin a tale on it and call it a fox, my apartment smells of rich mahogany, it's got to be at least ... three times that size, so what do you actually DO around here, you've got red on you, you ain't seen Bad Boys Two???
That enough?0 -
Absolutely!!!
I'm a board gamer geek mainly but I've been known to play a few video games, love love love reading, and go to *cons every now and then.
Also, I have an extremely geeky/nerdy job...I'm a geneticist.

Dell Enterprise Associate by day. Gamer by night. I fix 'em, I use 'em, I game with em. BF3 all the way, and COD 4 MW(1) are two I play most. Computers have been a big part of my life. I know the feeling of just vegging out in front of the PC. I have completely changed my ways after day 1 with this site. One of my other gamer buddies asked me what I ate calorie wise before this site. I told him I have no idea because once I saw it all down, I just started following it. It must have been huge (3000 plus a day). You are welcome to add me.0
