Enjoyed the article. Short and succinct. Even has a link to see how many calories would put you in a deficit. It was pretty accurate compared to what MFP has identified for me.

    Thanks.

It is easy to read the article and understand how it's done, but to practice the article is the hard part for me. I am trying to make positive changes every day. I have 40 pounds to lose. Thanks for the link. I could use all the help.

Great article if you want to know how to lose weight. I think though if it were that easy no-one would be overweight in the first place.

    According to the calculator:
Calories needed to lose weight: 1025 - 1275 (calorie deficit)
    I'm currently netting 1400.....curses
1400 is still a deficit of my tdee which is a little over 1700 though so I can't let it spook me.

I posted the article more for the simple information on how to lose weight but there calculator seems very close, but will not be the same as others like on MFP

The info is great... but the calorie calculator for calories needed to lose weight are for losing 1-2 lbs per week... it doesn't account for people losing less

ETA: The calculator does have a range if you see between maintenance and to lose weight options, keep below maintenance and in the range to lose

The calculator was good for maintenance calories, but suggested a large deficit for weight loss. People that are close to goal (like Gingerveg) need a much smaller deficit to get fitter and drop a few pounds, which makes sense since our maintenance calories are already lower than for someone that is overweight (due to being smaller). I liked the calculator because it set my maintenance calories higher than most calculators (which set it too low for me). There is always a margin of error if we calculate our activities incorrectly.
