    Here's a good rule:

LEARN HOW TO BE HAPPY WITH YOURSELF AND NOT PSYCHOTIC ABOUT HOW YOU CONSUME FOOD!!!

Seriously, everyone is different and there are no "rules" to dieting. You make healthy choices. You watch your portion size. You are aware of what goes in your mouth. And you exercise a few times a week. Done and done.

A lot of what you said is fairly unhealthy and obsessive. Let's try to be sane about our eating habits, shall we? And not encourage disordered eating? Yes? Awesome!

But...my after lunch carbs are my favourite. Ooh, except for my after-afternoon tea carbs. Wait, no, I've got it this time! My after-dinner carbs!

This is likely why am not skinny, but my aim is to live a happier life *not* a carb-free, hungry life.

The OP clearly stated she found this, and wanted opinions. I am not sure why some seem to be mocking her. You either agree or not. But don't attack.

I agree about the parts teng you to up your fruit and veg intake and sleep well and generally treat your body with respect and love. But going to bed hungry makes me a sad panda.
Also, if I want to lift heavy I have to eat carbs. So, can we just agree that these rules are open to interpretation and should only be used as a guide?

Also, this cake I am consuming in my profile, you should eat one a day for optimum weight loss.

Rule 1: Drink a large glass of water before each meal - NO excuses

I do this. I drink a lot of water.
Rule 2: Don't drink your calories.

Black coffee, unsweetened ice tea, and water are my drinks of choice
Rule 3: Eat protein at every meal - or stay hungry and grouchy

Yep, I love me some protein.
Rule 4: Slash your intake of flour and grains

Rule 5: Eat 30 to 50 grams of fiber a day

Rule 6: Eat apples and berries every single day

Rule 7: No carbs after lunch

Those 4 rules all contradict each other.

Rule 8: Learn to read food labels so you know what you are eating

Rule 9: Stop guessing about portion size and get it right - for good

Rule 10: No more added sweeteners, including artificial ones

    Common sense here

Rule 11: Get rid of those white potatoes

Rule 12: Make one day a week meatless

Rule 13: Get rid of fast food and fried foods.

Everything in moderation, including white potatoes, fast food, and fried foods.

Rule 14: Eat a real breakfast

Rule 15: Make your own food and eat at least 10 meals at home/week

Rule 16: Banish high salt foods

Rule 17: Eat your veggies - just do it!

    Duh.
Rule 18: Go to bed hungry

    Rule 19: Sleep right

I go to bed satisfied. Not full, but satisfied so I can sleep well.

Rule 20: Plan one splurge meal a week.

If you feel like you must "splurge" once a week, you're being way too restrictive.

Most of those 'rules' aren't required to lose weight or remain skinny. I break most of those rules and have no issue cutting or maintaining.

These are the only reasonable ones, lol.

    Fixed it for you.

    Awww.... :(
To be fair, bob probably didn't have much to do with it. More like a formulaic book the publishers crunched out and signed bob on to sell and take a picture for the cover.

I own the book. I have read it several times. To be fair, it has wonderful advice in it. WHen I find myself getting sloppy, I revisit it.

PS most of my weight was lost eating a bowl of cereal in bed every night (2-3 cups worth).

I really like how you think. :drinker:
