Hey MFPers,
I have been consistently maintaining my weight for some time now, and occasionally take measurements. I have been doing well with exercise and considerably eating well despite the holidays. I have been toning up a bit (just a bit) and I keep feeling as though my hips got larger, I was curious tonight and YES IM RIGHT my hips grew 2 inches, Im pretty sure I took my measurements in the same correct spot, Im just a bit confused as to why this is happening. I know pelvic bones can continue to widen but it seems a little drastic, even though its only 2 inches. Has this happened to anyone?
BTW 28 years old actually 29 in 3 weeks, never had a child, have continued to up my weight training and running so I have NO CLUE as to why this is happening and why I barely noticed. This might be a ridiculous question but Im totally serious! Any insight would be awesome thanks in advance! :noway:

Looking at it objectively, if your hips grew by that much, most of your pants would no longer fit. That has to be close to two sizes difference right??
I think you just measured in a different spot, if you dont look or feel any different and your clothes are still fitting in the same way, I think that would be the logical conclusion.0 -
Bigger butt
Rayman yes and no 2 inches wouldn't be 2 pant sizes well not for women but it is possible I measured incorrectly or maybe my waist shrunk lol0 -
Cindy you have me cracking up friend! That's it no other comment!0

He's right though, 2 inches gained would make your trousers pretty tight! I really think if your diet and exercise has been consistent you've just measured in a different spot.0

Where you standing, sitting? was the leg you where measuring flexed, unflexed? did you bend over while doing the measurement? Did you put all of your weight onto the one leg while you measured? these are all things that can alter a measurement.0

I dont know but maybe your getting more butt muscle? You do a lot of running so maybe muscle??? Either that or your measuring is off. You look great either way0

If you do a lot of running you don't gain muscle, you generally lose muscle. And the only way to gain new lean body mass, is weight training and a caloric surplus. If anything, it's water retention if everything is measured properly.0 -
