Expensive NSV

After months of wearing what another MFPer called "Clown Clothes" I finally broke down and bought a couple of new suits for work about a month ago. I figured since I was losing weight fairly slowly I had plenty of time to wear these suits before they became too big. I won't even get into how I bought 2 of the exact same suits, one black, one gray, 2 different sizes (grrrr), but yesterday when I put on the smaller size, I realized the pants were too long, since I had already hemmed them, it could only mean I have less hips holding them up.

Losing weight is HORRIBLY expensive. I lost 5 pants sizes in a year. And went from XL-L tops to a Small. Can't tell you how pleased Goodwill was with my donation...
But, look at it this way - it's an excuse to buy new clothes - better than having to buy a bigger size!0 -
Great NSV - but expensive. You may want to check and see if there is a clothing swap group near you....or maybe start one here.0

Congrats to you! Keep up the great work!
I wear scrubs everyday to work and they are pretty forgiving and all of the pants tie at the waist so I just keep tying them tighter. As far as my regular/non-work clothes go, I have re-discovered that section of my closet that housed all the clothes I haven't been able to wear for ages. So even though I've lost a total of 34lbs to date, I haven't had to buy any new clothes yet. But my plan is to hit up thrift stores for jeans and shirts until I reach my goal weight.0 -
I've started to get some things from Goodwill...since I refuse to buy new knowing full well that they all will eventually get too big. (I did purchase a pair of jeans there just yesterday..straight Missy size 18 for the first time since I can remember. I have never been out of those W sizes my whole adult life! This is a huge boost to my motivation! Good luck!:happy:0

DEF CONGRATS!! I have had that same problem, I kept a lot of smaller clothes from when I was slimmer years ago in the hopes I would fit into them again. I finally did but since I had built up more muscle I actually changed my figure enough that almost everything looks HORRID! And it wasn't just my opinion, Hubz would tell me "that really doesn't look good on you" when it was one of his favs years ago on me!
It can be expensive, but I shop at discount clothing stores like ROSS, Marshalls & my rule is I don't pay more than $10-$15 for any single item (unless they're leather shoes which will last!!). I usually go about once every month or so, spend $50-$75 & come back with 4-6 new outfits to replace the ones that no longer fit (yes, I donate A LOT to Goodwill & Shelters!!)
Congrats again0 -
There is no cheap way to do the work clothes thing but what I've been doing for general clothes is buying super cheap tshirts off the Internet and some jogging bottoms. I can get 10 t's for £15 so I don't mind getting a few in every new size. The nice clothes will come at final goal0

I have been trolling the thrift stores, but haven't been able to find too many things. Hoping as I get smaller will have a better selection to choose from. The suits came from a discount suit place, Calvin Klein, 1/2 off...may have to learn to sew.0

Keep up the good work, bummer on the purchase of new suits. FYI, one of my main goals is to be able to fit in all my suits in my closet. Hope they're still somewhat in fashion next spring.0

Good job on the weight loss, too bad about the clothes
I bought a very nice leather jacket before losing 30 pounds. D-oh!
