GFR - Good Form Running

I took this little class the other night, just wanted to see what other runners thought of the message, I liked the class and the video they took of me running showed all my obvious form flaws I had. I am trying to work on my form. What do you guys and gals think???

I am a very technical runner.. Knowing NOTHING about running when I started two years ago, I studied meticulously and learned. Now I train others. These four tips are great, and as far as I'm concerned, necessary to stave off injury. This is how I learned to run, and others tell me I look like a running machine. There are a couple of others I"d add, too, though. I'd add in there to exhale on left foot strike to prevent stitch in the side, and I'd add the rule of conversation (If you can't run and talk, you're running too fast).

That's the way I run. Everyone that runs should take this class if its available.

I took a class like this at my local running shop. My biggest issue was that I was taking too large of a stride. I'm 5'4" with stubby legs, so I was striking on my forefoot, but my foot was so far out in front of my body and no where near my center of balance. Obviously I was over compensating haha. Now, I run with a faster cadence and shorter stride. It's much more comfortable and I have less hip and knee pain after a long run!!

I think everyon needs to take a smooth running class!

I agree with scottb. This is how I think I run and pretty much do. It's also similar to the information on The Natural Running Center website.

Interesting article in the New York Times last year about proper running form. It was written by the guy who wrote Born to Run, the book that encouraged so many people to try 'barefoot' shoes. In it, he claims to have rediscovered the training techniques of a once great runner named Walter George. Seems Walter did not have a lot of time for practice, so he developed this simple training technique so he could train inside whenever he wanted. It turns out that these training techniques also strongly encourage proper running form.

Good stuff here. I wish I would have taken this class sooner, My knees already hurt from bad form.

I run about half barefoot, half minimal.
I strive toward "chi" running. This looks very similar.

I haven't checked it out, only heard about it from my running shop, but I hear there's an app that judges your running form. I think it was called "The Coach's eye". You set up your phone camera to watch you run (obviously you need a friend to help) and it tells you how to improve.

    Has anyone used this?
