Evening Everyone:
Welcome to Michigan! My name is Tod and I have had a life-long struggle with weight. Anything out there to try I have. That was until 2 years ago and a "widow-maker" heart attack slowed me up. I've spent the last two years bouncing up and down on weight - lost 70 lbs only to see it crawl right back on after a back injury a year ago. I learned about this site from several people on staff of the hospital that I work for - most are nurses, even a nutrionist!. Anyway, they have inspired me to try to lose weight yet again and this time I swore I wouldn't let anyone know who I was UNTIL I got through 5 days. No weight loss - no revealing who I am. Well, I'm here and 7 lbs lighter than 1 week ago. I am stunned. Thanks for giving someone who thought he had seen and done it all and was just going to be fat for life another reason to get motivated to make a permanent life change.

Keep up the GREAT work! There are so many great people here to help you keep motivated and headed in the direction you desire. I too have been up and down over and over again, but finally deciding I need a "life" change seems to have been the trick. Keep it going!0

I see a really scary huge number of success stories around here . . . I think you may have accidentally stumbled on the solution to your problems.
I was resigned to getting fatter and fatter, slower and slower, the rest of my life.
Now I'm in the best health of my life and I finally truly understand how to eat whatever I want and keep weight off.
Welcome and congratulations :-)0 -
I think you have found the key to your success. MFP gives you that visual calorie count and you can determine how you have been gaining weight in the past without really being aware of the "creeping pound". Knowing the numbers and logging in your food every day will get you where you want to be. Exercise is important but in those times when exercise is limited by physical restrictions you can still stay ahead with watching calories and logging everyday. You don't have to be on any special diet (unless your doctor prescribes it) but you should eat healthy foods with few "treats". Good luck with your program, it does sound like you are off to a good start.0

By now you know that I turned down your request to be a friend on this journey. Nothing personal at all - it stems from a promise that I made to my wife several years ago that I wouldn't "friend" anyone or accept as a "friend" anyone that we didn't know pretty well. In my job as a chaplain there is a lot of transfgerence of stuff from patient to counselor and that makes my wife a little edgy so I made this promise to be transparent in my relationship with her. I hope no offense was taken and I am sorry for the late explanantion but my schedule has been hectic. Yet, thanks for your encouraging post - it did make my night
Blessings
