Bra Buying Help Needed - UK Only

    Per Una do some cheap bras. Well, cheapish, around £9 for a bra. Although I haven't bought any for a while.

    I've lost a lot, although I'm not quite at my goal, and I'm able to wear old bras I bought years ago, back when I had more money (i.e no mortgage and kids!) so I've got brands like Calvin Klein and Elle Mcpherson.

    I'd just try a few on and see what fits best. I've never been properly measured, except in Mothercare when I was pregnant!

    I always make the mistake of giving my clothes away when they are too big or too small as I'm always determind never to be that size again.........until the next time, lol!
    In fairness though I haven't been this small in over 16 years so I can be forgiven for not keeping those bras that did fit back then, lol! :D

    I've been fitted twice at Debenhams, before and during weight loss, and the ladies were really helpful both times. I thought I had lost loads but only moved a cup size :sad: I have friend who didn't have much look with the sizing at M&S either......
    I am a 32 F so cheap bras are out of the equation for me :grumble:

    It's really frustrating isn't it?! I think I really need to set a day aside to go round a few shops and try on different sizes and styles until I find a good fit.
    Another reason not to want to spend too much money is the fact that I would still like to lose another 4 or 5lb before Crimbo, maybe I should just wait until then to save me having to fork out again!

    I'm surprised to see so many people like la senza. Quality is absolutely awful. I really like figleaves and la perla but yes you pay a lot more than 6 quid per bra. I don't think you can get anything decent for this price. I'd change the husband if he ever bought cheap lingerie LOL

    I too like Figleaves (http://www.figleaves.com/uk/lingerie/bras/). They have some good sales so it is worth checking out their website now and again or signing up for their newsletter.

    Last year my husband and I spent a few days in London. I was measured at Rigby and Pellar in Mayfair (something I have said I'd like to do on many occasion before and never got round to it) and splashed out on not one but 4 absolutely beautiful bras that fitted perfectly. A bit expensivebut worth it, in my opinion, though. Now they are too big.

    Hi, I agree with a couple of the other posters and go to Debenhams or M&S to get a professional fitting. You're not obligated to buy, although Debenhams have their sale on at the minute so you might grab a bargain there. They do quite a good value range in there anyway

    You could get measured correctly at Debenhams or Marks and wait for their sales before buying their bra's, that's what I do!

    It's blooming expensive losing weight isn't it? Not only in clothes but shoes also, I've got so many pairs of stunning heels that are just way too big for me now, it makes me want to cry, lol!

    It's stupidly expensive loosing weight! So much so since the summer I've had to just stop buying brand new clothes altogether. So I now have a wardrobe full of charity shop buys/second hand bits/car boot/ebay etc- I can justify wearing something for a month or two if I've gotten it for a few pounds.

    Oh well, can't wait until I settle again! :)

    I love a charity shop/boot sale bargain! I still wear a woollen jacket I bought for 75p 16 years ago at a boot sale and a 20p blouse from a charity shop the same year, my best buys ever! :D

    My best advice would be this: go to a really really nice bra/lingerie specialty store and ask to be professionally fitted. Most good stores will offer the courtesy fitting service. You are under no obligation to buy any bras there!!! Try on some bras there to see how they should fit - the ladies are usually helpful in explaining how they should sit with the wire etc. Have a look at their sale racks before you leave because you just never know...but...out of this you will know what your correct size is, how a well fitting bra should sit and what to look for with the way the wires sit. Most women wear the wrong size bra.

    Bras should do up on the very first set of hooks when new - the other two sets of hooks are for when the material eases and stretches. This will also be helpful for you if you are looking to lose more weight.

    Just a note: with an underbust measurement of 29 inches, there is no way you are a size 34. A size 34 is the equivalent of a size 12 here in Australia - our bras are based on dress sizes and a 29 inch underbust is in no way an Aussie size 12 dress!

    You would most likely be either a 30 or 32 (depends on makes as some are tighter in the band than others..) and with that much of a difference between under your breasts and over your breast then there is no way at all that you are a AA cup! AA cups are pretty much 2 peas on an ironing board! (no offence to AA ladies!) You sound like you have at least a c or d cup going on there!

    i'd go to boux avenue or ann summers and get them to measure you properly, and then invest in a decent bra
