Finally did Level 1 Day 2! I'm not sure if it's the cardio that is my problem or if it's my quads, but the middle cardio section--right after the squat and press--seems to be the hardest part of the whole workout (with bicycle curls and push-ups a close second and third, respectively). If I'm going to lose my stamina, that's where it happens, though after a few minutes recovery I'm back in the game.
I also finally took some measurements. Here are my starting numbers:
Biceps: 13.25"
Waist: 43.5"
Hips: 46.25"
Thigh: 24.25"
Waist measurement taken at the navel: knowing I'm 36" at my skinniest point is meaningless with this belly in front and even bigger hips below.0 -
Just finished Day 3. The jump ropes are getting a little easier, I get worried about my back when it comes to jumping. I abhor the bicycle curls and push ups, but I tried my best to get a really good quality modified push up today. Only took a couple breaks for water and sweat wipe-age.0

I like the idea of shredding in 60 days in addition to rest days and other workouts. I also walk to Leslie Sansone's walk dvd's: A mile each day, walking off the pounds. She has cardio in her dvd's. Her dvd's are gentle compared to the 30 ds. JM kicks *kitten*!!! I completed day 3 level 1 yesterday and my arms and legs are sore. I am taking a break this weekend before resuming day 4 on Monday to let my muscles rest.
The jumping jacks and jumping rope are the hardest for me and even my feet hurt when I do them. I really want to do this. I just need help getting there.0 -
After starting and stopping the 30DS many times, I have found that (although it is great) my one complaint is the whole psychological struggle of when to move up levels. I always start it thinking I will do L1 until I can do it all and it feels easy. Well, I think I can safely say that even if at my fittest and thinnest, I never found it totally 'easy', certainly not after doing it for a week to 10 days. It can also feel demotivating that each day it is not easy and it may never be. This time I am going to move onto L2 fairly quickly and also L3 (which I think is easier from memory) and then mix and match. Otherwise it gets too boring and it kind of messes with my mind!
It might be a long and boring wait until L1 gets easy0 -

My plan was to try to move up one level every 10 days. If I start level 2 and want to die, maybe I'll go back to level 1 for a few more days. If level 1 gets easy early, I'll up the weights for strength and/or up the speed for cardio.0 -
Had a fight with myself on Day 4 today. I want to be able to do the full push up at least by the time I move to level 2, and thought I'd be ready to start working towards that goal today. I can barely bend my arms in a full plank, which ended up discouraging me and I shut the video off throwing a ***** fit. I finally convinced myself to finish, and I even started it over. I'm glad I did, and I hope I can do a push up soon, it will be my first ever! The jump ropes are getting much easier, I can finally keep up and even get a bit of height in the beginning. Still hate the bicycle crunches, but slowly improving. Hope you ladies are doing well!0

Burcher2 - my husband (who is very mild mannered) would shred with me sometimes and the things he would yell at the tv made me laugh so hard I can't shred with him anymore. Extreme shed and shred sounds interesting. I will look into that for after 30 ds. You should start the shred with us. I'm hoping having a group starting it with me will help me though this round!!!!
I missed this in my first read though! Extreme SS is fun, but I could barely make it through the warm up. My husband shredded with me tonight and he points out JM's contradictions. "How is that not bringing the knee forward?" I think I like it better when I shred upstairs and he does weights and stuff in the basement lol.0 -
How's everyone doing? I have to admit I'm not doing as well as I hoped I'd be at this point: finals are this week and next week, schedule has been crazy, I've been feeling run down, and overall I'm less motivated than I was a week ago. I'm still fighting to get it in my schedule when I have the energy, but since I'm not sure why I'm less motivated, I'm not sure what adjustments to make to feel like I'm back on track.0

I have finally started shaking this cold. I hope I can get back to doing this today or tomorrow, It is just still so hard to breathe I don't know.0

I haven't done anything since my fit on Day 4 and making myself finish. I woke up yesterday morning and while getting dressed, felt my back spasm like I was eventually going to end up hurting it, so I took a day of rest. And then yesterday I didn't get time, so two days of rest. I should be okay now, and hopefully I can do it when I get home. Our final project is due on Friday, and I have a final on Thursday next week, so this might have to take a back seat for a minute.0

I'm back!!
Last week I felt like the more I tried to make time for the 30DS, the more I didn't want to do it. Wednesday morning I got up early, got dressed, put it on, made it as far as the first round of push ups and turned it off. Since I'd gotten up that early, I was determined to do some kind of workout, so I switched to Sweatin' to the Oldies. It didn't take long to figure out the problem: the 30DS was boring. So instead of my Friday workout, I built a playlist for the 30DS. If anyone's interested, here it is:
Along Comes A Woman (Chicago) -- Intro/Warm Up
No Time (The Guess Who) -- Strength 1
Travellin' Band (Credence Clearwater Revival) -- Cardio 1
Now More Than Ever (Chicago) -- Abs 1
I Just Want to Celebrate (Rare Earth) -- Strength 2
Hound Dog (Elvis Presley) -- Cardio 2
American Woman (The Guess Who) -- Abs 2/Strength 3
Blue Suede Shoes (Carl Perkins) -- Cardio 3
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (The Animals) -- Abs 3/beginning of Cool Down
The timing works very well without having to cut any of the songs, which is partly how I chose them.
So today I did it, and it wasn't nearly such a chore! I finished off with a yoga routine instead of doing Jillian's cool down (soundtrack: Benise's "Mi Amor" on repeat). Tomorrow I'll do a more involved yoga routine and maybe go for a walk: same 60 day plan I started with. Since I feel like I got so little out of the last week's exercises, I'm going to reset my counter with today as Level 1, Day 1 and go forward from there.0 -
After a couple of days of rest, did Day 6. Upped my dumbbells to 4 pounds, and you can really tell after a bit. I don't feel like I'm quite ready to move on, but that could be because I've been taking rest days. My insurance for the chiropractor doesn't start til January, I can't afford an injury! Maybe hubby and I will take a walk tonight.
EDIT: I took measurements and LOST an inch off my waist! But nowhere else lol. Haven't jumped on the scale yet, the muscle I'm gaining makes the numbers go up.0 -
Finally made it to Day 7. Chiro told me not to do the jumping anymore to prevent injury to my back, so working on staying safe and strengthening core. Bought a heart rate monitor with my graduation money, as well as The Firm Express dvds. Will start that after 30 day shred, as their meal plan is very restrictive.0
