The calendar actually ended many months ago. They didn't take into account the needed leap year days.

Actually, no. Leap years were invented by Pope Gregory in order to keep his calendar in sync with the seasons. Period. The Maya didn't track seasons, so there was no need for leap years in their calendar.

C.G.P. Grey explains it much better than I can in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpYtLcRKuPk

Thank God, someone who actually does research instead of quoting facebook Meme's.
Hence the reason it is known as the Gregorian calendar.

Ya, Mayan calenders were way more accurate than ours. a Mayan year would of equaled out to be about 365 days, 5 hours, and some odd minutes that I forget.

To answer OP's question, I wouldnt be surprised if theres mass suicides or family members doing murder suicides.

I think I remember hearing of a large group of people who all committed suicide together because they believed the world was ending. Cant remember what year this wouldve been.

That was the Haileys (sp?) comet people. I remember that vividly.

I'll be at work probably. I'll see what happens but I have faith that most of us will continue to act like we have some sense and maybe wakeup with hangovers on Saturday from partying too much. It is the Solstice afterall.

I didn't even think about that. I figured people would start stocking up on water and canned goods and that theft and riots would become a major problem.

I think it will be a lot like Y2K...a whole lotta nothing.

I tormented my students by pointing out that December 21st is a school day. They're spending the Apocalypse with me...taking exams. *maniacal cackling*

For me I think everyone will do the same that they did for Y2K, stock up on supplies hide in their bunkers just to find out that nothing is happened. I think the world will end not in a single day. First I am a Christian and beleve Jesus will rapture all his belivers and then appear again in 7 yrs. Read the book of Revelaions in the bible, it will tell you how the world will end

Yea, it also says no one knows then the end is coming.

^^THIS!! Honestly, Our calenders end every year on December 31. How many people freak out about that? Even if they knew when the world would end, what are the chances they would have a 'tablet' (or whatever) big enough to portray it all?

I predict a normal day with a few foolish people unnecessarily freaking out and doing some foolish things. As for me, I will go to work, maybe visit my mother and do the 30-day shred before preparing for a family Christmas gathering that weekend.

If any of us believed in this, would we be on here? I know I wouldn't. I'd be out there stuffing my face with donuts and chocolate cupcakes.

Thank you for correcting me... I found this one also easy to understand. (I'm much better at reading than listening as I can go back and review)
