feeling down

I'm feeling really down lately. I don't have much of a social life things aren't looking good at work. I'm only there part time but I don't think they're going to be calling me in anymore. I really want to lose weight because I feel awful about my body. I go to the gym once a day but then I come home and just sit on the couch all day. The only movement I seem to get is my workout. I eat well and track my calories but I feel like it's not good enough since I sit the rest of the day. I don't have alot to keep myself busy with. I often think whats the point of doing my little workout and eating well if I'm just going to be a sloth. Sorry for the vent I'm just feeling down today!

if you have a dog, go for walks. I am the same way. I go to work, I work out, I come home and I veg. I'm usually exhausted. However, Hailey (my dog), gets me out of the house because she needs to be walked or we constantly play in the back yard. it helps. Or 'borrow' a friends dog if you don't want the responsibility.0

How far away is work? I bike to school and back everyday and I feel a lot better about myself for getting in the bit of exercise and not spending any gas. If it's far, maybe bring your bike with you and bike to a nice spot for lunch during break?0

Thanks for the suggestions! I do need to walk my dog more I just keep making excuses like the weather is icky lately. Work is too far to bike to and I probably won't even have that job much longer but I'll try biking to do my errands and stuff.0

Pretty much that was me last week. TRIED to find any little bit of motivation to exercise but it didn't last long. Today still not 100% but FORCED myself to exercise anyway. Actually feeling a little more positive now. Mid-week I dug out my ZUMBA dvd's that I bought over 6 months ago and unwrapped them finally! (A fellow MFP absolutely LOVES zumba) It was interesting to say the least! lol I did'nt get into the workout but I tried! Maybe that's what you should do. Get a couple workout or yoga dvd's and see if that helps with your outlook. Find a park to hang at and enjoy the day! Change your routine. I liked reading all the posts here and seeing my 'friends' accomplishments. I see you only have 12lbs to reach your goal...wow! You are NOT a sloth! You've been taking care of yourself! It's ok to vent.....sometimes that's all we need.0

Find some sort of league or club in your area to get you out of the house. There are all sorts of community sports leagues that cater to just about every fitness level there is. There are also walking/running/triathlon clubs if that is your thing. Joining a league or a club makes it a little easier since there are people you will be accountable to.0

I'm starting to feel the exact same way. I'm facing my 6th layoff in 13 years-will happen Dec. 28-Merry Christmas to me right? AND I have to work Christmas day too! That'll pay double time and a half, so I really will need the money. I'm trying to stay upbeat and positive, but my motivation and spirit are really waning right now.
I'll be curious to read responses to this as well. Best of luck to you!0 -
Golf. Sounds silly (and you don't get a major aerobic workout or anything) but you are outside moving around. If you play 9 holes (and walk rather than ride), maybe on the weekend, that's 2-3 hours spent outside, usually in a pretty setting, walking around. Plus, golf courses are great places to meet people! I like it for the social aspect AND so that I'm moving around and not such a vegetable.0

if your name is mustlosenow55 and you have 12lbs left, your doing awesome!!! AND you have a dog,Thats free and fun exercise how about you take a tennis ball or a frisbee so you can get some exercise with your dog. I go to yard sales or 2nd hand stores and buy workout/yoga dvd and if i play them enough i finally say ok i can do this, and I do. Try putting up a note in gym asking for a gym partner on the time that you go,That way you have to be accountable. I workout with a guy on our lunch hour and we call each other a slacker if one of us misses a day, Its nice to have someone say Hey i missed working out with you, even if its in the words of slacker. If you sit on the couch and watch tv, then on commericals try doing squats, jumping jacks or pretend jump rope for the 2 minute commericals. Hope this helps, be proud your doing great!0
