I've been slacking.

Hardcore. From August to September I had lost 10 pounds so quickly that it surprised even me. And I was so unbelievably happy. But since September i've put on about 4 pounds and it's been extremely discouraging. It really is my fault - I mean, it wasn't a surprise or anything like that. And i'm VERY well-aware of how it happened. It's the holiday season and i've been eating like crazy (i've always been getting too lazy to log everything). And so in general, I am aware of the problem and how to fix it, but I can't find the motivation to. The weight gain has really taken a toll on my self-esteem and motivation.
In conclusion, I was looking for a few friends who are near my weight (179 atm) who are going through the same obstacle and want to get back on track. Feel free to add me or post here
How do you get out of a weight gain/plateau rut?

Yeah, me too. I have not been tracking. Add me if you want.0

I tell myself, "How BADLY do you want it?" and I remind myself of WHY I jumped on the weight loss wagon in the first place. It's always a mental battle with myself, but it usually gets my head back on straight. You've gotta REALLY want it.0

Find a goal or deadline that you have to meet and have someone seriously keep you accountable. I've been doing the same thing (eating like crazy and not working out) and recently my brother surprised me by signing me up for a race. Now I have no choice but to get back on track or be super embarrassed by my performance in a few months.0

What weight is 179 atm. I am not familiar with that. Try having a protein before you go to a party. You will be less hungry and less apt to graze. Spend more time talking to people than eating. If you are drinking at these get togethers, have a water between drinks.
Try to move every day. Whether it is a walk, exercise DVD weight training. Anything.
Most imporantly FORGIVE yourself. Don't dwell on the amount that you have just gained. Think about what you lost and how you felt after losing it. Know that you can do it. You have shown that. Then get off your butt, log your food and exercise.
I read through the success stories every day. It helps keep me motivated.0 -
Don't turn a slip-up into a give-up.
4lbs ain't so bad. Just remind yourself how much better you'll feel back on the wagon and get back to it.
I would suggest you may not want to go as strict this time. The faster and harder you lose, the faster you'll quit and put it back on. Go for slow and steady.0 -
I'm right there with ya.
I'm 172 right now and I've been tracking and exercising but just not eating like I was when the pounds were falling off.
I used the Thanksgiving holiday as an excuse to overindulge.
Feel free to add me and let's get this fat GONE! :happy:0 -
I totally get where you're coming from. It keeps happening to me too. It's very frustrating! But the best thing we can do is not give up. Whether we had a bad day, a bad week, or a bad month...it's never too late to get back on track. For me, I fell off track for almost 10 days. I originally planned on giving myself Thanksgiving weekend off (Thurs and Fri), then that turned into the entire weekend, and that turned into the following week. I had my pity party and guilt trip and then told myself to suck it up, I messed up but I'm not giving up. I *want* to change, and have to learn to face these challenges, because they are always going to happen. So it's Monday, I'm doing good so far, and still have my goals in sight. (IDK what my damage is yet, too scared to get on the scales!)0

I've been slacking really bad too....lost some weight for my wedding....and put it all right back on after! UGH!!! :sad:0

I'll be honest, the biggest motivation for me that keeps me going is seeing people's success stories they post on here. Knowing that these are REAL people like me, not advertising for any product or program, let's me know if they can do it, so can I. Seeing a woman who was my size before and seeing her skinny and happy and glowing after, makes me know that I can be that too. And I will, eventually! I will eventually be able to post my own success story, which is another goal
So every time I slack, I make myself come here and look at the success stories.

Was at 174 lb and lost fast at first, then gain, but lost again.. I am now a lil more mid-way from goal... Bottom line, weight lost is a battle, don't quit... you have to win!0
