Hey guys,
I am new to this site. I am a wife and a mother of 3 beautiful children. 5, 3, and 7wks old, so I am very busy and often lack the motivation to work out or do anything about losing weight. My good friend recommended this site to me and I am already so excited to begin working out! I think this is exactly what I need to get my butt in gear and get to it! I hope to get the motivation to stick with it from myfitnesspal. Good luck to all of you on your weight loss goals!

I am glad you found this site. I love it. It has helped me stay motivated. Reading everyones comments has also been so helpful.
  • Hi! I too am sick of being overweight. I have tried for a long time to gain the motivation to lose weight, but since I don't have a lot of support at home, it has been really hard. My husband is severely morbidly obese. I want to start working out so that maybe, he will also start to work out and attempt to lose weight.

We both want children, but I don't want to bring children into our home until we are both at a healthy weight and we both have a healthy lifestyle so that we can be good role models for our children. I know it sounds strange, but I think part of parenting is teaching your children how to eat healthy and how to manage portion sizes from an early age.

My husband grew up in a household where portion sizes, calories, carbs, fat didn't matter. It was whatever came to mind to eat even if it was nothing more than a salad loaded down with salad dressing and the only other ingredient being lettuce. I remember the first the time I watched my husband fix a salad. My eyes just about popped out of my head when I saw how much salad dressing he put on.

Because of how he grew up, my husband does not have a lot of self-control when it comes to food. He can finish off a package of cookies in a day or a 1/2 gallon of ice cream in a matter of hours. Because of this, I have stopped buying sweets for our household.

I am trying to become a healthier person also. I don't want to make it seem like I am perfect about my eating habits. God is my witness that I too like to indulge. I have my weaknesses, but for the most part, I can say ok, enough is enough.

I just joined up tonight. I'm hoping to make some friends and to become more active. My husband and I have very recently started to go to church and have been to only 2 Sundays at our new church. We are very excited about our new path in Christianity and we are also working on saving our marriage which has been hurting for many years.

So, all in all, lots of changes, but all good changes. Hoping to get some advice from people in similar or the same situation!

    Thanks all!!!

I am excited for you as you start this journey! It sounds like you have a great opportunity to encourage your husband and maybe you can be a team in losing weight as well as doing life together. Congratulations on your new path of Christianity. God is so good! He has blessed my life in so many ways. Good for you for working on your marriage. I've been married 7 years this June and it's definately not always easy, but I am so glad I have never given up, even when that seemed like the easy thing to do. Good luck to you and I look forward to hearing about your progress!
