I step on the scale most days except for Fri, Sat, and Sun but my official weigh in day where I record my weight on here is Wednesday.

I do it every day at the gym ( except for Mondays as it's my rest day ) and record it in an excel file. However I use the Sunday results to trace my progress and update MFP on Sundays :)

daily for me. I collect the data and do a linear regression trend line over a month or so to see my progress.

IMO, monthly is OK too since it is long enough to see through the measurement error. Weekly is kind of a useless measurement since it isn't a long enough period and it doesn't allow you to collect enough data to do a real regression, but is the one most people use for some reason.

It depend on how i feel....about a month or every fortnight, usually on weekends. When i was obsessed with weighting in daily it didn't help me cause i was always freaked out that i'm not losing or putting on 0.5 pound. But that is how the body weight fluctuates and so i weight myself at least every second weeks so it can make a difference

Depends on the type of progress. Since this is the diet/weight loss forum, I assume you mean weight? I weigh myself almost daily, but don't put much stock in it. I track my cals (which is a more accurate indication of weight than the scale) daily, weekly and monthly. I can see where I stand in relationship to my calorie goals for each of those time frames, and my scale weight ALWAYS matches up at the end of the month.

    Other progress I track:
    Measurements and pictures: monthly
    Strength progress: weekly
Speed progress: still working on that.

When I first started it was daily to every other day. This should only be done if you can NOT freak out about every change in the scale. I used it to learn how my body works and what foods effected me and how. For me it helped me get a handle on things....most however, can't handle daily. So weekly would be better.

Now that I am at a stage where "if I lose more great!" but not actively trying to lose, I weigh every couple of weeks. Just to make sure I am not creeping back up.

Ideally, throw away the scale. Judge progress on how you feel. Do clothes fit better? Are you losing inches? Are you reaching fittness goals? These may take longer to notice but are way more productive in the long run.

Weekly (every Thursday since I started on a Thursday). Sometimes I'm itching to go and weigh myself more than that, but I know weight fluctuates and it wouldn't be as accurate. And I wouldn't do it less than weekly because it keeps me motivated if I find I didn't lose a pound one week. If I weighed every two weeks or every month, I might not know I'm not doing as good as I thought and a whole month would have gone by and I'd be disappointed.

I step on the scale every morning, but I plan to do "Wednesday Weigh-Ins" for officially recording my weight on MFP. Once I get closer to my goal, I'll probably do bi-monthly or just once a month since those last five-ten pounds tend to take forever. It's not an obsessive thing and it certainly doesn't define me or make any difference to my self esteem. It's simply a unit of measurement. But from personal experience I can say I lose motivation/accountability if I don't step on the scale every morning. If I'm out of town and don't have a scale, I tend to overeat because it's like it doesn't count. Stupid, I know. That's just what works for me. Everyone is different.

The "official" weigh-in is every week, those are the numbers I track on here. But sometimes in the middle of the week, I'll weigh early to make sure I'm heading in the right direction and get an idea of what to expect at the end of the week. So technically, I weigh every 3 days or so.

I weight almost every day. I log it in an app on my iPad to keep track of fluctuations. I record my weight for MFP for ALL losses (even 0.1 pounds) and gains 3 pounds or more. I've found this keeps me motivated. I say, play around with it & find what works for you.

My personal official weigh-in day is on Sunday. But since it is sooo much fun to use the Nintendo Wii I weigh-in using the balance board just about every day. I like to see how far off my balance is in the morning while I am half a sleep still...HeHeHe.

Every morning.. it does not freak me out to see the change good or bad.. I use an app on my phone that tracks my weight and BMI and I can export to excel and see month changes etc.
  • I always weigh myself every morning, for me it's very encouraging even to know I've lost one pound. I believe it's good to know how your body reacts to different nutrition and excersises. I can look back and compare the days where I've lost or the days I have gained, and see if there is any room for improvement. For me it's just a way to understand my body better.

    *THIS* ...almost...
    What works for me:
    • Daily after voiding but before showering or intake (sometimes 2-3 times daily because I'm curious... not obsessed!)
    • Log ALL losses
    • Log gains ONLY if they stick for more than a week

    Hello,
I always weigh in on a Sunday once a week.
I know if I weigh in anymore I'll just become paranoid
but if you weigh in once a week, you know where you stand and if you need to be more careful with weight or whether you're on the right track.
  • Everyday and I record my meals, snacks (apples or grapefruit), and water intake everyday. Apples is the secret!
  • I would stay away from the scale at least for a week or 2! sometimes the scale can be a little discourging on a day to day basis...because it take a while for your body to adjust...i mean expample your not going to lose 10 lbs over night....so i do it at least every 2 weeks!!

I weigh in every Sunday. I'm also trying to gain some muscle, so I take my measurements and log them into a chart I've created to track my progress.

Everyday, but only log in any new lows....
  • Once a week... though I'd like to do it only every two weeks, I don't have that kind of will power! Haha!
  • I do it every 10 days! It makes it easier and you don't have to see the scale changing back and forth ...
