i need help!

I have been working out and eating under or at my calorie goal for almost a month now. I have been do the shred and on my off days been doing the elliptical for 30 mins or more. I am on day 12 of the shred. I eat 1200 calories a day and have lost 5 inches all together but no weight, what is going on? I have about 60 to loose so its not that its not there to lose. Im getting discouraged, what can i do? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. I remember last year when I started, I had like 30 pound to lose. It took forever for it to start falling off. Like more than a month! But when it started coming off, it really went fast. Just keep doing what you're doing and make sure you net 1200 calorie or your body will go into starvation mode. Keep on truckin'! Good luck!0

My best guess would be your gaining muscle. Great job with the 5 inches!0

Oh yes, AND you are gaining muscle. I was told that when you're sore, your body stores water weight to protect the muscles, so that could be it too. I've been doing P90X for 35 days and I've gained a total of 7 pounds altogether from muscle and water weight. So don't get too discouraged!0

It sounds like your doing right to me. If your losing inches it means your losing just now pounds.
Though maybe your not eating enough. Have you found out your bmi and bmr? Those are helpful in
knowing what you need to eat as well.
I would try eating extra calories for a few days and see what happens.

I have to ask...if you're losing inches, who cares?!
If you want a number to track, though (and I am obsessive about numbers), you should track body fat percentage. I'd you 're losing inches and not weight, then your body fat percentage must be dropping...0 -
Are you eating your exercise calories? You need to take them off the 1200 if not so you might find you are only eating 800 (if you use 400 during exercise for example)
If you are not eating them then maybe try eating some of them for the next 2 weeks and see what happens

Your body is probably trying to figure out what is going on. Make sure you get enough calories. Drink LOTS of water. Go outside and take a fresh walk and think about what you have accomplished so far. If you are loosing inches than that is wonderful! Stick with it and it will come off.0

If you need to lose 60 pounds, then you need to eat far more calories than 1200 a day. Bump it up to (at least) 1400 NET calories a day and you'll see a change within 2 weeks.0

Thank you all for your wonderful help and encouragement. I am eating my exercise calories. I will try to bump in up alittle for a few days and see how that goes. I deff. need to drink more water, i am only getting about 3-4 glasses in a day. I am very excited about the inches and i measured last night before bed and i had lost another inche off of both arm! So i know what i am doing is good, and i deff. wont stop but i do know i need to get this weight off as well. Thank you so much and i will deff. keep you all updated!0

Loosing inches is great, but I know it can be discouraging when you dont see the scale moving. Just keep doing what you are doing, you do need to net 1200 calories after workout to ensure you are not starving yourself. 3-4 glasses of water is not sufficient at all, 8 glasses is whats needed for a regular person, if you are working out, then you probably need 10 or so.
Ensure you are not eating too late, make sure your last meal, is atleast 2-3 hrs prior to when you go to sleep.
Believe me, I know it is nerve racking when you dont see the scale moving, but it will soon, as long as you are sticking to the right eating habits.
I have been trying to loose 20lbs for the longest, and it takes a long while to move, but you know what. I am getting healthy, my body is getting toned, and I am loosing inches, which is a great thing.
You will see your results soon. I dont know what the shed diet you are doing is all about, never heard of it, but I hope it allows your starch and fruits and all that healthy stuff we need, because without those, when you do come off the diet, you will likely put the weight back on, we need starch (but whole grain). I learned that the hard way, went on a lettuce only diet, for my wedding, it worked and I looked good...but after the wedding, weight came back on slowly but surely.
Also try and incorporate weight training in your excercise (if you are not already doing so), you will build muscles and thus burn fat easier, and you will get toned

Firstly--Way to go! I'm so happy for you with your success.
I started w/ a personal trainer 6 weeks ago and have been working so hard. 3X a week strength training and 6X a week cardio + MUCH better nutrition (and keeping a 2:1 ratio of carbs:protein). I have only lost 5 lbs. To me, this is not good. Every other time I've tried losing weight I'd lose like 5lbs within 2 weeks. Apparently I was losing water weight, muscle & fat, not just fat (like most people do when they try to lose weight). The trainer told me that it is really good to see that I'm losing anything at all, they said usually in the first 4 weeks of strength training their clients normally gain weight because they are not doing enough cardio on their own to counterbalance all the muscle weight that is being added. I have lost inches though--and that is very measurable. After you've built up the muscle your metabolism will increase and you will inevitably lose the weight quicker in the long run, just not right away. Don't get discouraged, you're doing the right thing. You are doing the most healthiest thing you can for yourself and your body will thank you in the years to come. You are also ensuring that when the weight does come off , it will stay off.0 -

Its so good to read this. I woke up so crummy this morning, upset about the scale, have not lost any inches, but I have been working hard, Been doing P90X, and I keep reading eat your necessary calories and also your exercise calories, but to no avail I see no weight coming off.
But to read that someone else had the same issues and it took a month to actually see results, is a good motivator, and reminds me that I am doing this for more than just my weight but my health overall. and that it takes a while to get the body to a healthy state. I know it so difficult because we live in a I want this to happen now time, and things take more time than we want then to take sometime
