Hi guys,

I have just been diagnosed with de Quervain’s in my right (dominant hand). I teach Pilates for a living and do loads of other exercise on my hands (burpies, pushups etc) so it makes sense that I would get this overuse injury….

I am wondering if anyone else has ever had it, and how long it took before you could do weight training again; if you had surgery; if it was successful etc etc.

Would just love anyone’s feedback or experience with it.

Thanks.

Hey. I have it in my right wrist. I cannot do a lot of push ups or downward dogs because my wrist hurts from the pressure. I am in physical therapy for it, so I am thinking another month and I'll be able to do more pushups and lifting without wanting to quit.

Hope your wrist is feeling better!

Hey TheEmi, thanks for your reply. My wrist is much better now and i am doing weights again. Pushups are still not a good idea and burpies definately a no-no, but at least I can do most things again.

    How is your wrist???
  • Hi Deb,
How long did your de Quervain lasted for? I have recovered after about 6+ months but wary to get back into lifting weights. Does your weight training seem to affect you in any way negatively?
    Thanks,
