Temporary appetite suppressant?

Seriously, tricking yourself through bad habits is not a long term solution. It's a good way to go from one bad habit to another. Not to mention, cough drops are basically candy...and sugar free ones are made of sugar alcohols (read: laxitives). Try going for a walk, or adjusting your nutritional goals such that you're satiated between meals. Take a step back and look at the big picture. Developing self control is a recipe for success for accomplishing any goal you have.

Find things to distract yourself. The only time I get "the munchies" is when I'm sitting at my desk bored. I just get up and walk away for awhile. It gets easier with time. It's like quitting smoking, after awhile you get out of the habit of reaching for it.0 -
Smack. Cook up a big ole shot and just chill through the boredom.
You're doing it wrong! Only crank will suppress your appetite *while* burning loads of calories! Sheesh!
I'm too lazy for that. Sleep through the cravings. That's what it's all about.
We're all different though so what works for me might not work for everyone else. Plus: Muscle weighs more than fat.0 -

Yes, we are all unique snowflakes. I'm all about the burn. :smokin:0 -
I normally eat when I'm hungry, but for the times I'm not hungry, and simply bored and don't want to be tempted, I've just found out what can stop me from eating anything...at least for 30 minutes or so..until the urge to "just eat" passes.
Cough drops! Or anything with menthol in it. It makes anything you eat or drink taste horrible!
you best be logging the cals from those cough drops... 15 cals per Halls cough drop, so if you're ingesting them every 30 minutes for most of the time you're awake that's approximately 150-300 cals. I'd just eat a healthy snack instead
I didn't say i ate one every 30 min...I said it lasts for 30 min, long enough for the munchies to go away...and I DO log them.0 -
Ummmm....1lb muscle = 1lb fat. Get your facts straight SON!Smack. Cook up a big ole shot and just chill through the boredom.

What about feathers? Or babies in swimming pools with 5 pound dumbbells?0 -

Well I think you are onto something when you mention menthol. If I understand correctly, you want to avoid snacking when not particularly hungry. (I can relate.) Since I am more prone to this after suppertime, I find it useful to simply brush my teeth afterwards. Or I have a cup of peppermint tea. Mint is great for digestion and I suspect it`s an appetite suppressant. Besides, like you said, once you`ve eaten that, not much tastes good afterwards.0
