Any ideas for lowering salt intake?
The catch: I live in a studio apartment with a small Cabinet, medium sized mini fridge and a microwave.
Recipes and food idea please!?

Try and eat as minimal amount of processed food as possible! Steam fresh veggies in the microwave. If you have a stove or a george forman grill your meats yourself. Get creative with your salads add bell peppers, beans, fresh corn, raw broccoli, whatever. If it is proccessed look really watch the sodium... But if you are able to make it yourself that is definitely the way to go...I have noticed a huge difference lately with my sodium by eating out less and eating less processed foods.0

The best way to reduce your salt intake is to make your food from scratch. Boxed or canned foods are high in sodium. Companies are making more reduced sodium foods, but you still have to read labels. Meats shouldn't be pre-seasoned. Season them yourself, I use Pleasonings and Mrs Dash. They are either reduced sodium or sodium free seasonings. There are foods that naturally have quite a bit of sodium such as celery and milk. It will be a change, but you will get use to the taste of things. And you will learn to adjust recipes. Chili is an easy one, use reduced sodium or no salt added kidney beans ( also rinse them first before adding to the soup) no salt added chili beans, no salt added tomato juice, I add a low sodium salsa to give flavor, onions, peppers and don't salt your meat either. Use low sodium chili powder and you are ready to go! It will have a sweet flavor to it.
Hope this helps !0 -
Just by eating fewer things that came in cans and boxes, I removed a LOT of salt from my food.0

Maybe get a smaller crockpot and learn some recipes for that? BBQ chicken comes to mind. The more from scratch and fresh you can make you food, the less sodium you will have in it.0

Easy to keep it in check if you make your own food from wholesome, single ingredient foods. I.E. rice, fresh squash, fresh kale, fresh tomatoes & a little flax oil if needs (can even use plain frozen veggies if can't keep fresh).
My sodium usually is around 600-1000, sometimes up to 1400 on the rare occasion.
Eat healthy, eat clean, workout = lose fat, build muscle, look & feel great!0 -
watch what you are drinking too most everything has sodium besides water, even milk as a small amount0
