The bell ringers (they always make me smile)
Wrapping packages beautifully
Rosy cheeks when it's cold
You can threaten kids to be good, OR ELSE they're only getting reindeer poop
The smell of fantastic cookies being baked(even though I don't eat them)

That my wife, 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters are all in my home at the same time on Christmas Day. Friends, too. I'm usually, in the kitchen cooking, but nothing makes me happier than stepping into the living room between basting, carving, slicing and dicing and watching them sharing stories.

When I step into the room, someone usually looks up at me and smiles. When they pass through the kitchen, I usually get a kiss, a hug and or an "I Love You."

As we grow older and they establish lives of their own, those moments are becoming less frequent.

    The lights
    The garland
    The smells
    The bell ringers
The lines full of little kids at the mall waiting for a quick visit with Santa
  • I'm with you on many things - especially beautifully wrapped packages (kinda, maybe a little bit obsessed how tight the package is wrapped, oh, and the bow has to be juuuust right). :)

I love hot cocoa, warm fires (but I won't start them), and sitting in the room with just the Christmas tree all lit up all snuggled up with my fleecy pants, fuzzy socks, and fleece blanket.

    -And cookies. Lots of cookies.
-And family getting together and holding back their snide remarks in an effort to just get along and enjoy visiting with each other.
-And I also love the smarta$$es who do open their mouths and let out an unexpected quip that gets everyone riled up. (Then I really love wine....)
-Casseroles - god love the casseroles!
-And I reallllly love to give presents of all shapes, sizes, and value. Partly because I get to wrap them...partly because I like to shop for *just the right thing* for my recipient, and partly because I love the joy it brings to all involved.

Happy Hannukah for the weekend :flowerforyou:

I love the smell of coal and wood fires
The way the ice sparkles on my car in the morning ( I don't love so much having to hack the ice off in the dark so I can drive to work !)
    Cinnamon in everything
My advent calendar ( I give my husband the chocolates )
Singing carols to myself in the car with no one listening
Baking treats for my colleagues at work
    Good winter ales
Remembering the important things in life like family and being extra nice to people for no reason :-)

Stupid crazy closeouts at Academy Sports. Last year I made back everything we spent on christmas by buying and reselling fishing equipment.

Not so good this year, but I've netted $150 and about $350 worth of stuff that I just kept.
