LOCAL CHURCH SUCKS!

So I go into a local church, and they asked me to leave because I was wearing a tube top and really short shorts.

:explode:

Then, I saw that they had a policy against grunting in the church.

:explode:

Then, I saw that they offer bread and wine every week! Don't they know that that is like serving wine at AA, and it's so unhealthy with the carbs and alcohol and such?!

:explode:

Why would they do this?! I guess I could just walk away, and find a different church that is a better fit for me, but I prefer to rage against this one!

  :explode:   :explode:   :explode:

Gyms today really do make miss lifting at our HS gym, where actual lifting was allowed. Can you join a crossfit box and just not be one of the crazies?

Yeah, serving wine at church is just like serving wine at AA. And, that sip of wine has sooo many carbs.

Don't go to a local church. The out of town ones are better.

And soon, you'll have to deal with the crowd of Christmas/NYE churchgoers. Get there early so you can claim "your" pew.

Did you REALLY go to a church in a tube top and short shorts? I'd say the church should be raging against you, not the other way around. And I'm not even remotely religious.

(C'mon, people...it's a metaphor. Not a perfect one, and the inflammatory nature of the subject matter will likely obscure the message for many, but there's a point in there just the same. Look closely.)

the OP made this thread to mock another thread.

Mock? No. Illustrate a point? Yes. It was even posted in that same thread. Thanks, Pointy.

Satire would be a more appropriate definition, Champ.

Seriously, once you get past the knee-jerk emotional reaction to it, it really is a decent metaphor for how some people interact with their gym.

Meh. Not really a decent metaphor for me, only because the gym one had complaints that are reality based and this one does not.

no, you were being derisive. that's not satire, that's mockery. Capice, cupcake?

i'm not saying the other thread didn't deserve mockery. i'm neutral on that point.

no. i have no experience with butt soreness. perhaps you can enlighten me on how that feels. i just think you're being a patronizing jerk, when that behavior is not even warranted. all i did was inform the woman who mistook your thread as a serious thread, that it was not in fact a serious thread. that is what i think has led to your apparent butt soreness.

I'm saying the relationship between a person and a church they have issues with is a lot like the relationship between a person and a gym they have issues with. I think the metaphor in general is a good one.

As for how well the specifics match up to the other thread? No idea. I read maybe half of the posts in that other thread before I decided it was a total cluster and moved on.

Good gravy. Please note the forum it was posted in (Chit-Chat, Fun, and Games), and the ridiculousness of it all. If someone somehow manages to take it seriously, I don't think that there will be long-term consequences. I think they just might get over it. Hope you can too. :flowerforyou:
