Is 100 grams of protein enough to build muscle?

I weigh 214lbs and I'm getting between 100-140 grams of protein a day. When I raised it to 200 grams, I wasn't seeing any more muscle gains than before. So is that rule about a gram of protein per pound of body weight really true? Have any of you seen gains from increasing protein intake above 100 grams per day? It's would just be expensive and make losing fat really tough to maintain 200 grams of protein everyday.

gaining muscle mass requires a surplus in calories and a lot of heavy weight lifting

100 g of protein is close enough if you have the caloric surplus and weight lifting

for 200 lbs body, 150 g of protein is probably better

IMO 1g per lb of LEAN BODY MASS, is about right.
other than that, eat the rest of your calories to preferance. If you want more chicken, eat more. Want more bread or butter, eat it. I for one am 5"1, 115lbs and eating 3000cals and get around 90-120g protein, sometimes more if i go over my calorie goal. im a girl obviously. i could probably eat minimum of about 70g per day and be fine, im just not going to LIMIT my protein as i do enjoy certain foods....
