Breast lumps

I am worried sick...my daughter has found breast lumps in her breast...with one being larger than the other. The doctor said it is calcification but he is concerned also the lymph nodes are inflamed. They are doing biopsy but in the meantime is just waiting and worrying to find the results. They are taking too long in the process, its been a month now since she saw the first doctor.

Are you in the UK? If cancer is suspected there are fast track referrals and pathways that MUST be followed. Contact the Patient Advice & Liaison Service at your local hospital for advice on Monday. Remember most lumps are benign. Best wishes.
  • Hi, I'm from the US and I'm 23 and I recently had a scare with my breasts. I had ultrasounds and it turns out I just have fibrous breast tissue. Many young women who haven't been pregnant tend to have fibrous breast tissue. Also you can be genetically pre-disposed to have fibrous/cystic breast tissue. My boobs look normal but if you know what you're looking for they're very internally lumpy. Its normally benign but if your daughter has fibrous tissue she needs to know to request ultrasounds every year instead of a mammogram. Women with fibrous tissue can have tumors that get blocked out by the normal cysts and only ultrasounds can detect the cancerous tumors if there are any. That is definitely something most doctors wont tell you or remember to do - DEMAND AN ULTRASOUND! Better safe than sorry. Before this I just thought all breasts were like that, I haven't groped many other women besides myself! lol

All the best to you and your daughter - I know how she feels, I was terrified for days waiting on results. Just remember if it is something bad the earlier it is caught the better and treatment these days tend to have positive results. Keep a calm head and do not jump to conclusions. Positive thinking is key, no matter if its nothing or something. <3

Hey, don't worry. I found lumps in my breast about a year ago, I was super worried and cried over it so much. Eventually it turned out to be cysts that only appear around the time of my period because of hormones. It's very very very common with young women. If there's no family history, it's probably nothing though it's necessary to look into it.. I know it's scary though.

You can talk to me if you want. <3
