Would you run with laryngitis?

I seem to have laryngitis and I'm wondering if I should hold off running. No real chest congestion just a weak voice with tickle in my throat. What do you think?

  • I've heard that for running when you are sick it's OK if the sickness is "above the neck" (light cough, runny nose, stuffy head, etc.) but no good if it is "below the neck" (chest cough, breathing/lung issues etc.).

I have been running with a cold and it's seemed to help clear it up faster and easier than I would normally shake a cold. If you have no real chest congestion and don't feel it in your chest I'd probably go ahead and run but with extra care just in case.
  • That sounds like a good rule of thumb. Thanks!
